Default Making a solid into Metalic.......Is it possible?

If I have a car with your basic solid color with clear coat, is it possible to scuff the clear, spray some metal flake, then spray some more clear, and then have a metalic color? I guess what I'm asking is can I change from solid to metalic? If I could do something like this I could leave the door jams, engine compartment and trunk as is.

This is possible, but would be a flake job, not a metallic. Sand clear coat down with 1200 grit (to avoid seeing scratches in clear when you re clear) , mix flake with a intercoat clear, spray as many coats as you would like, then re clear.
This is not a metallic thou!!!! It will look much "heavier" than a metallic. Think low rider..
