good wax for just paint..

my boat doesnt have clear coat on it so i was wondering what a good wax would be for it, and also can i use rubbing compound on it?

Its hard to beat good old fashioned carnauba wax. McGuire's, and Mother's both sell pure carnauba. Make sure anything you use doesn't have any silicone in it. One of the worst things you can ever put on a painted finish is silicone. It chokes off the ability of the finish to breath, causing premature wear and failure.
