Exclamation HELP......redoing stringer questions. Center stringer needed????

Ok fellas....so I'm elbow deep into redoing the floors and stringers in my '75 Makai. As you can see, it was BAD.
Now that I have the floor out, I removed the center stringer....leaving the side ones for now for support. Now, underneath where the stringer was, was very thick resin, 3/4" thick in some areas around it. As I was chipping it out, there was another layer showing remnants of where another stringer was....basically a thin layer of wood in spots. Yet even the resin under it chipped away easily....leading me to believe that is was never original to the boat either. The two side stringers look original.
The center one had all kinds of misc. matte.....looked sloppy.

Question #1......if that center stringer isn't original, (it was a 2x6) should I leave it & not replace it?
Question #2.......seeing how my boat is a 1/4 stringer, and since I'm replacing them as well, can I move them closer together and tie them into the stringers that the motor is mounted???

This is my 1st jetboat....which was "free" and runs really good....but I'm not looking to set any speed records...just a safe, reliable boat for the family...
A faster boat will come later I'm sure...hehe.

    Thanks for any help fellas!!!

Starting to remove floor...lot of water trapped.

All thick resin chipped away down to OG hull...

The excess crap....what a bitch removing....sh!t was flying everywhere man....haha.

Here's a shot looking down on 1/4 stringers and floor stringers...
Can a guy move the floor stringers inline with 1/4 stringers, or "lap" them together?
Or am I better off just replacing floor stringers in their original location?
I am not removing the engine.

Check this out it may help. Tons of stuff covered here. End of page one starts stringer replacement. I had the same setup you have and i changed it to 2 full length stringers. I think most would agree. Good luck

Question #1... i would replace the center stringer, it adds structural support to the hull and will also support you floor.
Question #2... If your not wanting to set speed records, 1/4 stringers are fine. Thats probably how the boat came originally. The other stringers you have there are probably to support the floor that somebody put in. I would say you can definitely move the stringers in. Just run your stringers that the motor is connected to out as far as you want. Thats what i did..
    just my opinion...

    Thanks Apollo...
That's my plan....to install the new stringers inline with the engine stringers....join them together. I'm ditching the center stringer....as I don't feel I'll need it once the new stringers are in, which will be closer together than originally.

I took boat off trailer today....so I'm pretty close to getting to work...just need stringer wood.
Hull is a bit rough underneath....wavy, nicked up, etc....she's been hauled on a poor fitting trailer for some time and overall abused....

    She's in better hands now......
