Repair and paint
I just met with a repair guy.
Let me just start by saying that he is top of the line and works mostly on wood an fiberglass yachts. He looked at the boat and I gave him an idea of the paint scheme etc...
A lot of the work is grinding down the bigger cracks in the glass, filling, fairing, The hacth is in need of new cloth applied, and painting.
I was given the quote of $6000
I am getting discouraged and dont know what to do.
Any advise, help, anyone want the job?

here is a hondo wood deck I am restoring right now...
needs both wood work and glass work.. plus I am rechanneling the trailer..
before with the bad glass on it..
now with glass removed and getting cleaned for new spar varnish..

GERK , to tell you the truth you can do this yourself because we have all been there at one point in time . Gerk i started out in this business making windmill blades 40 years ago ,and to this day i am still doing fiberglass repair . Hey guy if you decide to tackle the job yourself we can talk you thru it and why not give it a try ?

My plan is to do almost everything myself.
Correct me if I'm wrong-
My next step is to remove all of the paint that is there. Down to the resin.
And also grind out any damaged areas to reglass.
The guy that quoted me on the job says that he wants to reglass the entire boat with epoxy and cloth over the original cloth and resin. This would give it added support

This is a great looking boat. I am not sure what your schedule is like, but this could make for a great project. If you have a garage that you could dedicate to this sort of thing, you could tinker with it a bit at a time. I don't think you have to be an expert to do this work. I would give it a shot if it were my boat. Otherwise you will have to move it. I wonder if there is a new jersey moving company that would be able to transport it to a rehab shop.
