stringer question

Hi , I havnt been on here in a while, i had posted some pics of my boat(aqua craft shark) a while back, my stringer was not as bad as i thought it was, one side of the stringer had delaminated, we cut this one side of glass off and checked out the wood. The wood did not look rotted as I had thought, only bad where old bolt holes were, A fiberglass guy told me that it would be ok to glass this one side and overlap the old glass with the new. The guy cutt all the old glass off, then glassed from the bottom (floor) to just over the top of the stringer covering the old glass, my question is,,,,,,,is this ok???? the work is done and looks great, but i have read that you are supposed to glass both sides if you are going to do this. The other side of the stringer was ok, no delamination,,, so is this ok????????????????

yep your ok

a 2 foot section is pretty large to inject resin. however it can be done. id drill 3 holes just through the glass along the top but in the delamination. say 1/8 inch holes. go to a local pharmacy and get a large syringe with no needle. they are cheap their. mix resin and put in syringe. inject into hole. the others will become vent holes to allow air to escape. I use some 1x4 wood wrap it with wax paper so resin wont bond to it. clamp wood to stringer this will pull glass back inand align it. resin will squirt out holes this is good and means its full. if not release wood and add more resin then tighten it up again. . i like to overlap my repairs atleast 20% .

thanks for the help!!!! thats what i was thinking of doing, just didnt think of the wax paper,, good idea ill give it a try!!! i dont want to seem like im cutting corners but i have already put way to much cash in this... I think if most people would have seen it to begin with , they would not have done anything to it,,but i have o.c.d cant leave well enough alone, I try to make better and end up making things worse then after more money its back to being about the same!!! live and learn
