    Default Tahiti stringer replacement

    Hello Everyone,
I have a 16 tahiti that I opened up the floor on it the stringer is .......rotted bad. I have only cut part of the floor. Should I cut the whole thing out and replace?

I can post pics but Iam sure you have seen this many times before. There was a ski pylon that was attached that was causing some of the grief. If anyone wants the pylon, please let me know.

    Ideas, suggestions appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Dan

I would (have many times) cut/grind out any and all rot and replace
(GN7)Just a simple waste of perfectly good sour mash. If you need a fuel, use something that will poison you, not something that makes you buzzed.

Thanks. I really love the lines of the boat. Was surprised that it had that much rot. Didn't want to pull the whole floor but I will. Is there a good place to get fiberglass supplies online or is it best just to go to the box store?

Here are a few pictures. Does anyone have other pictures of their restoration so i can get some help with the back?

Also, is there a good place to buy fiberglass materials?

    Thank you.

It looks like your center stringer is rotten as well, I would take up entire floor and replace that stringer and floor. The floor on a boat without 2 full lengh stringers is what keeps the boat ridged. I would not try to patch a piece into a major support. Your allready there just cut it all out and do it once. I Have done it on to boats(replaced stringers and floors) not that big of deal. Just make sure you are wearing a mask and long sleeve shirts cuz that stuff is itchy!! I normally buy all my epoxy resin from Taps Plastic or west marine but there getting really exspensive. I just ordered some other brand: EPOXY RESIN BOAT BUILDING MARINE GRADE HIGH IMPACT 2GAL | eBay

Have not tried it yet, hopefully its as good. I always liked those little Tahitis, was the first boat I learned to wake board with( Had a 4 foot Ski pole). My boss had one when I was right out of High school and would take us out after work in the summer. Cool boat, good luck.
