my computer has froze up about 4 times this morning

I spend WAY more time on here than I probably should and regularly view it from a half dozen different Desk tops (Widows xp and 7) at work and my DT and LT at home as well as my even my droid and have almost Zero site issues cept occasional "smileys" posting Tom

i was having this problem over on scream and fly and switched to firefox and havnt had a problem since!

Yup, that's a connection problem if it's timing out. It could be an Internet Explorer problem or even a connection problem. Wifeys Vista computer had the same issue and ultimately I found it was a drivers problem on the wireless card. Had to go into settings and update the driver and now it works fine.

Or it could be an Internet Explorer issue, if it times out on any sites where you buy/sell stuff, that can be a pain in the azz; and possibly, no way to trace it down. As I said before, I reformat every year and for about a year I had to live with that problem on INTERNET EXPLORER only. I tried tracing it down and fixing it, but ultimately could not and had to abandon using IE.

As others have said, try Chrome first or Firefox vesion 10 should be good. Then go to YouTube and see if youi can play a vbideo. If you can't and it sez to update your Adobe flash, do it.

Running CCleaner might also be in order, it's free. It should also clear your "flash cookies" which can also cripple your system if they have not been cleaned for years.

FWIW, I run Firefox 7.0.1.

My xp OS does not like newer versions.
It has been a while since I tried an updated version though.

Yup, turn off the auto updates because FF has been releasing screwed up versions with no fixes other than waiting. And you have to find the older versions of FF....they have them on the site but try to discourage you from finding or using them.

Version 10 works on my XP machine, I'm running the 11 on Win7. But, FF sucked on several versions before the 10.

I only strated using Win 7 in the past six months or so and I gotta say it kicks ass. Easy, no problems ever, much better than XP. The only downside is all the permissions issues, but those are security measures to portect the system - and very similar to MAC OSX.

It works for me, Windows 7 and Mozilla...........( . )( . )...........

Rex, do I have to change to Firefox?? Is this the official line???

Windows 7 with FF browser.....forget your worries and leave IE for the kiddies.

I use FF almost exclusively. IE is the least liked browser it seems, it is much slower for me. I have not tried Chrome, many like it though. I have Win7 on one machine and XP on all the others. It works on both fine. I have one older machine that pb will "hang" on, but I just hit refresh and it comes up fine. Nothing to the degree Mouzer is experiencing. My newer machines load it right up.

I'll give the firefox a shot in the morning.
