Default Lawnmower Question: Front or Rear Wheel Drive

Front or rear wheel drive on a new lawn mower?

Just my opinion, but maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder!

Front. With a rear, you have to push down to get traction and will leave tracks. With the front, you lift the rear up and push for traction and don't push down. I have a gardener though.
Don't argue with idiots....they'll just bring you down to their level then beat you with experience!

I bought one with front drive and hate it. As the bag fills you have more weight on the rear tires and the fronts just spin. Also pushing down on the handle is just natural and when you do the front wheels slip more.

Rear drive with a rear wheel that is larger than the front. Bag on the rear. Don't waste money on the swivel fron wheels if you are looking at those.
    Works like a champ.

Ive used all kinds of mowers. I would go with a rear wheel, like said before as the bag fills up the weight is all on the back and makes for better traction. Also you get what you pay for, I would buy either Toro or Snapper. Spend the money and get a good one.

I use a reel-type mower since I have tiff lawn. I use a "Kato Equipment Pro Master" mower. They stopped making them twenty years ago so I now own three of them, just in case.

I've used dozens of others but nothing that left a better looking lawn!

I'm cheap so I watch for them to pop up on Craigslist for small numbers. The ones with no engines are sometimes in the best shape!
