Default What's it gonna cost me?

I'm tired of paying Arizona's outrageous non resident fee for my boat registration. Who knows how much it's going to cost me to get it switched over to Califoria and what hoops am in going to have to jump through (I.e. what documents are required and are they going to try and make me pay any tax). I bought the boat 3 years ago and don't have the bill of sale anymore.

i would definitly leave it in AZ, Cal will hit you with unsecured property tax but as soon as you dont pay the "unsecured" tax it then becomes secured lol i would leave it alone. Just my opinion

Arizona non-resident boat reg is BS!!! I even own a home in LHC, but you need to be a permanent resident and have an arizona drivers license. AZ reg is cheaper than getting Calif reg and pay the luxury San Diego County tax for me. I'm sure all the counties have this tax which is 1% of the boat value.

The county will find out once you register the boat with Calif. They share the info.

I agree. Any savings from AZ will probably quickly disappear as Cali hits you for the taxes.

I had a sneaking suspicion some retarded crap like that might go down. I didn't take that into account when I bought the boat. I'll never buy a boat registered in Arizona again. Your right. It is B.S.

In calif. if i am correct will be 1% of the boat value . (unsecured property tax) plus reg fees
And this is not what you tell them it is worth, they will look at the real value. Not like sales tax .
Do the math and see what works.

And being on a public board, you need to reg. where the boat is being used most.

I wouldn't have a problem registering where the boat is mostly used if they didn't charge me a ridiculous non resident fee. I guess technically its used on the border of the 2 states but still.

Leave it in az, take it from someone who has been through a million problems with ca reg and tax bs. I sold my roll bar boat and it went somewhere back east and those dirty bastards kept charging me the tax at 333 a year, and even after showing them all the docs proving it was not in ca anymore, they did not want to correct the problem, finally had to sic a attorney on them. and another thing they will place a value on it and it is up to you to prove their value is wrong. I had an old 73 searay 19' i paid 700 bucks for it with a blown motor and they valued it at 3300 dollars and taxed me on that price even with the bill of sale.
