Question 03 / 02 Lavey Craft - Opinions wanted - Please help new member

Thank you all... Both of those Laveys were sold... Bummer. I'm going to keep looking. I joined their Facebook page and made a post. One of the Camire's said to call Jef at the shop as he might have some leads, so I plan to do that tomorrow... Hopefully I'll be in a new-to-me Lavey here soon in time for summer.

Laveycraft is one of the best brands on the West Coast.

Im a 22 year client and own 2 of them.

If the boat is clean-(you have a good list of things to check)- you cannot go wrong.

I'm a 10 year customer and own two LaveyCraft as well. You will not be disappointed with the quality and customer service will be second to none. They will treat you like family. Both boats look very nice, if it was up to me, I would go with the bigger boat.

Ok so I just called the guy, both boats were at the same dealer. He said he sold the 2002 LaveyCraft , which was the second boat I posted the 24' Nu Era. Bummer! Anyways, he still has the 21' XCS Lavey Craft and said he can work on the price, which he just reduced to $28,999. That seems like a hell of a deal, but it's a little smaller than I was thinking of going. The boat will mainly be used in Havasu and Parker... I've been on Havasu when it feels like the ocean and the whitecaps are HUGE... I'm wondering if a 21' boat is going to be too small and get eaten up in Havasu with the chop... But it's a great boat at a great price. I found out the 496 mercruiser has around 280 / 300 hours on it, which seems high, but probably not. Hopefully a mercruiser would see at least 1000 hours, which would do me just fine. That said, he says he also has an 07 Advantage 21' with 80 hours for $24,999. I'm thinking I will go at least check out his inventory, seems like he has some good boats at great prices. If he can get the price on the LaveyCraft 21' XCS down to a better price and 280 hours isn't too much, I'll probably just buy it.

    Thought's anyone?

It's called "Boaters Outlet & Marine" in Upland, CA. They have 2 really bad reviews on yahoo.com but I'm un-sure if they are even true or not. I jumped the gun by posting those reviews here, which might be taken the wrong way, as I don't know the validity of said reviews or the business. I'm re-posting this to remove thos reviews, so that I'm not bashing his company; for all I know, he's a stand up guy and someone was pissed at him so they left fake bad reviews... WHO KNOWS. My bad guys and did not mean to join this forum and start on a bad foot.

That's a beautiful looking boat... It's just not in my price range. I would love to find something at 30k or under, which does limit my options. I could go as high as 32k for the right boat, but I doubt he'd take that and it's also stretching me more than I want to be. Oh well, back to the drawing board. I found some nice 03 and 02 eliminators, they just have smaller engines, but that's probably not a problem... I don't know. I guess I'll just keep looking.

Pay particular attention to this purchase you can get suckered pretty quick and not even realize it.

There is a big numbers game going on here with these manufacturers as to what is and isn a foot of boat for X dollars.

1.What of the length is boat- vs what is swimstep,

    2. Pay attention to beam and freeboard

    3. and who carries what amount of fuel and where-

    4. Then find out if the manufacturer can vacuum bag vs who cannot.

    5. pay attention to a racing heritage- you learn things from racing

Use this as a guide to what you are getting and you will start to see where your money is going - some 25 foot boats have a 50 gallon tanks (useless) and some 24 foot boats have 80's.

Stay the course until you find what you want.

Boaters outlet (Ted Banta) worte me a bad check for $2,000 and has not paid off the leinholder in the amount of $17,000.00 My leinholder wants to reposess the boat as i have not made the payments because Ted told me he paid if off (all lies), my credit is shot, my bank account is overdrawn because of his bounced check. On the boaters outlett web siteis says they are licenced yach borkers, this is not true, i checked with the state of california and it all crap. Stay away, rip offs.

I know have to turn this boat back to the original owner so me and the bank are out $34,000. I cant believe this guy is in still in buisiness .

Ted sells alot of boats, 2 bad posts for a guy that has been in business for alot of years might not kick of a red flag to me, let some others on here post up thier dealings with Ted. Not many people post good news and bad news travels fast.

Matthew, IF everything you mentioned actually occurred there would be a CRIMINAL investigation underway by the DMV investigations unit. By now they would have concluded their investigation. I know many DMV investigators, and IF this were true, keeping money and NOT paying off a lienholder, they would be arrested. This is known as grand theft.

So if by some remarkable way DMV investigations are not aware of your claims, you had better drop a dime or two. I do not know the dealer, but I do know the laws, and DMV will not tollerate this nor woud the local PD if it was their investigation. Generally a bank investigator will contact the DMV. The sole exception may be IF a dealer goes BK, then all assets are lost.

    Please advise. BPI

I would call Chris or Jeff at Lavey and ask them about the 21'. They are usually pretty familiar with all the boats they build. As for the 25 Tremor i know the owners they are the only owners of that
boat. It can't hurt to call and make an offer. Try and talk to Randy because Lynn is a ball buster.

As an FYI Lavey is the only builder that I'm aware of that does not include the swimstep in the length of the boat. Regarding the broker, there is a discussion going on at "River Dave's Place right now under the thread titled Who knows who owns this boat"
