    Default Value of trailer

I live literally 2 miles from the launch ramp at Mission Bay in San Diego and with the price of fuel, pregnant wife, and lack of time to leave town I'd like to use this close resource and actually be able to use my boat. I've been keeping my eye out for a good aluminum or galvanized trailer to put my 25 Daytona on and found a Loadmaster that was hardly ever used, but did carry a 38 foot fountain. I know it's overkill in the highest regards, but figure I could always add a jetski and storage box on the front to utilize the additional room.

    My questions are:

How much does this thing weigh? (no inscrpition could be seen on the trailer)
What would be a smoking deal or just a retail price for the thing? (tires are shot)
Any idea what it would cost to add stringers to support a Daytona?

    Thanks for all the help!

I would look up what the trailer would cost new, then adjust for depreciation. Lets say a trailers working life is 20 years, you could do a straight line depreciation and then subtract the cost of new tires since those will need to be replaced.

You might be in it a couple thousand for recon and tires and making it fit your boat. I see trailers like this go for 3-4k. Depends on how much stuff you put on it. I would guess 3000 on weight. That will go up as well with your mods. I am not a licensed trailer guy. My comments are for entertainment only.

Not sure what it weighs, but triple axle aluminum trailers will float a little at the ramp when empty. Not noticeable unless the tide is coming in or out with a good current. Watched a guys trailer for a 38 Fountain "drift" towards the dock. Experienced it once with mine that holds a 32 Sunsation in Newport. Not a big deal, just watch it.

I still have the exteme and there isn't anything wrong with it, but I don't want to ruin it in the salt water. I've ruined jetski trailers within a year from the saltwater. I just thought a good aluminum trailer might do the trick. The aluminum one I bought is huge and can support 18,000 lbs. which allows me to do what I want with it. Heck, if the economy turns around for me, I might just put a second level on it and buy a nice hydro or flatty for those early moring-late in the day speed runs.

Ah, cool idea. I haven't done any salt water (at least on a boat you could put on a trailer, LOL) so hadn't thought of that. Sounds like you got what you needed.

How will you transfer the boat from one trailer to the other?
