Default Rear Diff rebuild in OC?

Anyone do rear differential rebuilds for a living, or recommend a shop? Rear end started howling on the way out of Blythe today. Made it home to OC, but shes done. Need an honest shop to take a look and give me a fair price for the rebuild/replacement. Truck is a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with 5.7 and 3.91's in the housing, limited slip deal.

    Thanks PB!

Call orange county offroad and auto repair. Ask for Pete and tell him Marty sent you. He specializes in Diffs and is a great guy. Will get a fair price.

Haha, this has been a great truck. 150k on it and this is the first problem. Has never left me stranded. Need to get another 50k out of it (unless my boss gives me a promotion he's been taunting me with for the last 3 years, in which case ill probably fix it and trade it in)

2 places that I can recommend

JS Gear, in HB, on Gothard just north of Ellis
Tustin Transmission, on Redhill in Tustin, Kenyard or Brent, both are Diff guy's
If I had the time, I would do it for you, it only takes a few hours with the parts in hand.

Diffworks in Corona does all the diffs for me and my friends race cars, 951-549-6780, and a few other people have gone through PDC in Brea, 714 - 671 - 9752, no personal experience with them though.

Too bad you are in OC, my brother is a gear man but he's in Havasu.

I had a 97 Chevy extended cab 1500 truck that the carrier bearings failed at around 90K. I did it myself with brother's guidance, carriers from the factory were set up with "way too much" preload. Wiped all the bearings out.

Kenyard & Brent are the only guys that touch my truck. Honest, fair and won't rip you off. They stand behind their work 100%. I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel Crew Cab 4x4 Dually.
