    Default over and under shotguns

Where is the best and cheapest place to buy a 12ga. over and under shot gun. New or used. I have always shot a pump and shot a over and under last week and loved it. I want to buy 2 one for me and one for my son. Also what is a good make ? I definitely want them to eject the shells not pull them out by hand it will be for birds and skeet. Watcha got ? or suggest ? Thanks

Never heard of an over and under spittin them out like an automatic. Should be a lot of good buys on older pieces. Plenty of junk out there brand new...............................

Most modern O/U's will eject the shells. I have had Beretta's and have had problems with them. I have had better luck w/ Ruger's.. Red Label.
Beretta's are a bit lighter, kick a bit more, Ruger's are a bit heavier..(generally speaking..)

You cannot go wrong w/ a Browning...!

You probably like the balance of a O/U. They feel easier to bring up to the shoulder. (imho)

I shot on the trap and skeet team in college. When I started shooting, I was using my waterfowl shotgun, which was a Browning Gold. Then I started shooting a Browning Citori. I am a big Browning fan.

My 15 year old started shooting trap summer of 2010, I bought him a Belgian made Browning Lightning which was real reasonable , it helped him quite a bit, he has a 21 average from the 16 yd line. Our friend told him there is only one other teen that he has seen with his level of raw talent..... his daughter. His daughter shoots a Krieghoff .... anyways check out the link to see who she is

    Krieghoff International - Corey Cogdell

    She's a pretty special friend

My kid shoots in a winter league, the night pic is a cool pic, that shot won his shoot that night with a 24 ..... The guy in the green jacket behind my kid is Corey's original coach Dave Kaiser here in Palmer Alaska.

Morel of the story ..... consider a good used Browning, you won't be sorry

Check out armslist.com. It's kinda like Craigslist for guns. I'm sure there is some crooked folks on there like everything else but I've had good luck with it. Worth checkin out

I just sold an older model Browning Citori Trap gun about 3 weeks ago for $700.00. It had fixed chokes and such hence the price. I did have to have the "lock block" on the Citori replaced (I basically wore the gun out. I shoot about 25000 targets a year).

I shoot a Beretta 682 Gold now and have had zero issues with it. Its a great gun and is actually heavier than my citori was.

The question on what to buy is really dependent on what your goal is and how much you want to spend. You mention skeet and birds. You are going to want something with a 28" barrel then. Are you going to get into skeet competitively? If so, you are going to want something with tubes so you can shoot different gauges. If you are just going to be a recreational shooter, I'd go with something that will shoot 3 1/2' shells with choke tubes. Remington has a line out called "Spartan" which is inexpensive and seems to be built pretty good. Might want to check them out.

I do have a guy that I shoot with that buys and sells a bunch of used shotguns. I can put you in touch with him if interested.

Also, check out Calguns.net. It a good resource for California Enthusiast. I have purchased a few firarms from their pier to pier selling forum and have done really well. That site ususally gets about 50-75 new firarms for sale a day. You can also do a "Want to Buy" ad and you will recieve a lot of inqiries.

I have hunted with a Mossberg Silver Reserve, 12ga over under. It was light weight, nice looking, shot well and I think they run $300-$500 at Big 5.
