28' boat on a 24' lift?

I currently have a 24' dock with an electric lift. It was designed to hold my 4700 lb. 25' Outlaw. I am looking at possibly storing my buddies 28' Howard on it that weights 4800 lb. I don't think the weight will be an issue but will 3-4' hanging off the end of the lift be an issue? Especially since all the motor weight is back there.

Any way to back the boat onto the lift? Seems like that would solve the problem. Other idea would be to tie the bow eye down somehow if there is something to connect it to.

You really want to get that boat as far forward as you can. If not you will overload the rear cables even though you didn't overload the total weight capacity of the lift. You also might want to get as much fuel out of the boat as you can. Good luck...

Wish I could back in. There are beam going cross the lift that the out drive would hit. Good point about all the weight being on the rear cables, hadn't thought of that.
