What a great time I had w/ my gal Sat night, camped just down river from Moabi. I Found this little peninsula and had the entire river to ourselves....all night........![]()

What side of the 40 is that beach.?? Looks nice and familar.
It's on the right heading towards Havasu from Moabi.......
Camping in the gorge were some great memories I have as a kid. My wife won't camp plus we have a 2 year old which makes it a little tough. But this year my 9 year old son and I are going to take the pontoon boat out and camp for a couple of days just us.
Camping is great, I camp Lake Mead all the time. It's nice not having to trailer the rig back to the house, and wake up in the AM and see the unparelled beauty of no one on the water...............
Nothing like waking up in the morning on the Lake. Thats one reason I love to Houseboat at Lake Powell.
FYI
Both sides of the river from the railroad trestle to the north end of Lake Havasu are part of the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge. Camping is not permitted on the refuge.
Back in the day we camped on that little sand island 200 yards north of the sandbar on the Cali side. Outstanding evening.
I believe it is illegal to camp. I figured at any minute we were just getting ready to leave and not spend the night.![]()
The refuge has been closed to camping (except at the Fivemile Landing Campground on Topock Marsh) for many years (>30).
When we pulled up for the evening my wife and I would sing..."this land is my land this land, this your land, this land was made.......
Stupid I know but, It makes me feel patriotic and reminds me that I'm a contributing citizen of this land and I don’t like being told not to use it or being told to pay to use it.
We do the same thing when we blow through the pay for use signs at local lakes and forests.![]()
