Default Boat Liquidation Sale On The Way

Definitely a sign of the times. Just heard that Southern California boat dealers and manufacturers will be holding a giant Boat Liquidation and Accessories Sale at the Rose Bowl parking lot on Saturday and Sunday, August 16-17. This is for both new and used boats plus any kind of boating accessory product. It's going to be a boat swap meet for the dealers and manufacturers to unload a lot of inventory that's backed-up over the past year. Should be some good bargains, especially on Sunday afternoon. Hours are 9am to 6pm on Saturday, 9am to 5pm on Sunday. Admission and parking are both free to the public.

I'm sensing a production boat theme.

Boat production and sales this year are way below 2006 and 2007 levels all across the country -- SoCal, Havasu, Florida, etc., etc., etc. -- it doesn't make much difference except this time the Southwest seems to be harder hit than the rest of the country. The problem is, it's time for dealers to start taking new 2009 models, and unsold 2007s and 2008s are still sitting at the dealerships and manufacturers. The inventory back-up isn't pretty. It's going to take awhile to flush these excess models through the market. If the exhibitors at the Boat Liquidation Sale are smart, they'll sacrifice as much profit as they can just to move product and get out from under the flooring costs. If they don't sell by Labor Day, chances are they'll be still around after New Years!

They didn't tell them about it because if Magic goes, there wouldn't be any room left in the rose Bowl parking lot for the other manufactures.

We won't be going to that.

TAF: as to your question about production slowing down. Last year we built 3 boats a
week here, this year we're about 3.25 boats per week.

Magic does not need to worry about liquidating their inventory. They, the company, are not going anywhere...More money than god behind that business...

Gotta love that 34Heritage. Rough-water Aronow hull and 0-60 in 10sec with fuel-efficient 425HOs is an unbeatable combination.

Unbeatable, and kind of unbelievable, especially with a pair of HO's in it. I'm just curious where that number came from as it does seem rather optimistic.

I'm looking through a Powerboat Mag right now and not seeing numbers anywhere near that good on any kind of comparable boat with similar horsepower. On an unrelated note, a 30' Skater with a pair of 710 Ilmors is only doing 73 mph in 20 seconds.

35' Baja Outlaw with 700HP per side is doing 44 mph in 10 seconds in this issue.

32' Dominator SSR with 496Mag HO's--- 50 mph at the 10 second mark.

It is a great boat though.

But how many are you selling. Perhaps your continuing to add to inventory.

    Talking

Sometimes, when you own a major trucking company AND a boat co., not such an issue if boats sales slow. Freight keeps moving, making money in slim times and good times.

BTW, got to talk with Keith last week at the shop, some cool stuff going on at Magic, worth a visit.
