Half Mile Flat Track Motorcycle Races........

Tommorow night at Perris Auto Speedway . These are REAL motorcycle races , 100 + mph then "lay it down sideways thru the turns" This is going to be the 1st Flat Track motorcycle races held at this dirt track in several years. They run midget & sprint cars, here including The World Of Outlaws series. I've seen Tony Stewart run here a couple of times, also JJ Yaley, ALWAYS good racing. http://www.perrisautospeedway.com/

Nice. I was just industry hills speedway wed for the flat tracks.

You probably saw Gene Romero ride at Ascot, he's the promoter for this race. I went to the last flat track event here at Perris years ago. Romero was there as well as Sammy Tanner " The Flying Flea ", Dick Mann and a couple other of the "old timers " , they did an exhibition race and I'll tell you what, these old guy's could still ride

I am supposed to get some tickets from Romero for the Pomona race.

One of the Aggajanians has a house around the corner here in Parker, he is the person who has the Schiada open bow.

Back in the sixties, I used to attend fri. nights at Ascot, it was a great show!

My son (and occasionally me) race flattrack here in NorCal. We got a few buddies racing @ Perris this weekend. Romero puts on a good show and it's mostly fast guys (that's why we're not there ). If you dug flattrack back in the day, you should check it out. Like us flat bottom racers, not much has changed.
Also, the Pomona deal at the end of the year is a great show. Usually enough $$ involved that a lot of touring pros hit that race... Pomona is a fast, paperclip shaped track... Last year it was the best show all year.

Used to watch Jay Springteen long ago....Flat Track is the shit...

I did not realize they even race at Pomona any longer. That was one of the last races I watched...is it AMA sanctioned?

Any of you guys happen to know Charlie Jenkins? He used to work for Ken Maley (RIP)and then started his own hot shoe business in the early 70's. Lasted about 4 or 5 years until someone torched his mobile shop. Never meet a guy that knew so many people in motorcycle racing and custom rod's as Charlie does.

growing up in Chico, we used to go to Cycleland Speedway.. we knew the
owners, my future-to-be brotherinlaw used to race short track there.

I used the run the pit gate.... age 13, they actually let me drive their old/old
cadillac ambulances to pack down the track... I was living life large for sure.

racers would pay me like a couple of bucks to keep and eye on their tools
and stuff.... they didn't have to.. I would have done it for nothing.

It was a really neat time to be a kid and get to do all that stuff........
