It usually takes 5 or 6 posts for even the worst thread to turn gay. This one just started out that way.

Does it really matter who does what? Is it really anyones business?

Gay people are people just like anyone else... It seems absolutely ridiculous to me that in a generation that is suppose to be so tolerant there is so much biggotry that still takes place and is considered socially acceptable.

I am not that liberal. It comes down to my religious beliefs, not that I think gays are bad people. I just don't agree with the lifestyle.

Well yes, eventually if you look at health ins. rates which will go up and up when these gay couples are hospitalized or go to hospice with AIDS. Health ins. rates are already out of control and will get even worse because employers can't legally deny health ins. to same sex couples.

Right... because AIDS is soley a homosexual disease, and employers health coverage rates have nothing to do with fraudulent workers compensation claims... especially in California.

Kind of a weak argument if you ask me. It ultimately doesn't matter though. People take political lines for all kinds of reasons and rarely does a debate sway someones view. I think alot people are against gay marriage as a knee-jerk reaction, often without even personally having any experience with with a gay couple. "Its wrong", is what we have all been taught, so it is what we all believe. Maybe if more people were taught tolerance this would not be the case.

Have you ever thought about it from the REAL WORLD perspective?

In todays society gay people are looked at as sicko's by a good part of us. They are belittled not only by their own people but by the fawkin government that is suppose to protect the civil rights of ALL people. Marriage is a civil right!

Gay people act out in an unhealthy manner. They engage in risky behavior, drugs, etc. because even if they don't do anything wrong society already looks at them as if they are deffective. If you were looked at as a bad person from the get go don't you think you'd be more likely to do something bad? Shit if you got the title you might as well reap the benefits right??? If society finally treats them like normal people and intolerance towards them is finally done away with I can assure you that we will see the AIDS rate among gay men drop significantly.

Did you know that today African Americans are just as high risk to already have or contract AIDS as gay men? Should we tell African Americans they can't get married and be insured too???

Very true, but for me it is about my conservative religious views.
