Gabion Baskets line the channel??????
This mornings paper had a picture of what the city is doing along the sidewalk mainland side between the water and the walkway. It sure looked boater unfreindly to me but I guess we'll see. They take away about 3 ft of beach and are at present about 1 ft higher than the side walk, pretty ugly also IMHO. It will probably be a popular hangout for scorpions and roachesAnybody have better pictures of it???

Saw those last Friday when were in the Channel. Water was about a foot up the sea wall on both sides as well. You could not beach the boat at all.Originally Posted by Not So Fast

Above the wall and between the sidewalk was a dirt area. The dirt area was eroding and undermining the sidewalk. The baskets they are putting there shore up the area and reinforce it. They are supposed to be putting concrete tops on it so they become benches. Looks pretty good to me, and won't effect boating, as again, they are above and set back from the sea wall.
It also doesn't take away any beach as it is just taking up space in the dirt next to the sidewalk, but above the wall.

Gottta be careful here, if the BLM declares it a refuge for spiders, scorpions, snakes and the like then they may put restrictions in place

At risk of beating a dead horse, why is the wall there? who shoved that down our throats?
who decided to put it in the worst possible place so that when the lake is up--noone can
beach without hitting it? why is there no way to get up over the wall for the disabled?
I can't believe they haven't been hammered in court over this one....lastly, did they make a law about putting a boat every 15 feet or one boat per tie down? if so when was it discussed publicly or was this also jammed down our throats?
Every time someone hammers on our city leaders, I stick up for them and defend them and try to assure them that our new leaders are different and are taking a different approach
and then we get this wall all wrong and now the rocks. I can't even imagine the scorpions
and snakes that will be living in there about 2 feet from the backs of our kids sitting on the
wall. Can't believe that the city would allow these rocks there knowing that they will be sued mercilessly the first time a scorpion or black widow or snake bites someone and yes
in my humble opinion the city will lose.
Even before the gas price hikes that are now affecting our visitors in town, there has been
a noticeable decline in visitors, bed tax, etc etc. etc. Our city has spent the last decade
driving folks away and now they act as though they are surprised. I'm not. You reap what you sow as they say..
Forgive the rant. But one positive thing that I'll mention is that the city police in the channel seem to have a much more positive approach to enforcing the laws down there.
I think that is very positive and will have a positive impact on the situation down there.

Gawd that would be devastating if you could not use the channel to park the boat, leave the channel and go use your boat in the part of the lake where you can utilize that Horsepower, just an observation, call me crazy...............
