Gas sitting in boat for 1 week.

Ok.. This may sound like a really dumb question.

But I leave my boat in my garage in havasu.And when I'm not there it gets like 100+ degrees in there when I'm not running the swamp cooler. And I was wondering how bad that affects the octane rating of your gas. My friend was telling me that in one week or two weeks that the gas thats in there goes from 91 octane to about 87 in that one week cause of all the heat. Is that true or not. Just wondering. Cause I always leave my boat with about a half tank in each side. Were out in havi every weekend using the boat. But does that 5 week days really drop the octane rating.

And has anyone ever had any experience with any of the gas stations out here in havasu selling bad gas. You know. Lesser octane than your buying or just water in the gas. Just curious. Cause I've heard some stories of guys blowing there motors from things like that. But then again there motors were POS from the start. So who really knows why they blew.

I'm no scientist, but I know my gas sat from November to May in Needles and still worked fine.

Thats the same thing I said. I always left my boats full in the winter time and they always ran fine the next year. No problem what so ever. But my friends were saying its cause of the heat that builds up in the garage that makes it go away or loose the octane. So who knows.

Drain it into 5 gallon tanks and I will come over to pick them up. I will run it in my boat and personally let you know how it ran

I leave my boat in covered, under the a carport out in the desert unused for months at a time, with gas in the tanks. The boat starts and runs fine

, but I always try to remember to add a bottle of Octane booster to each side before launch or a bottle of gas treatment before we leave.

Your octane rating will drop over time, but if your using the boat regularly you, meaning you fill up regularly, you won't notice. Now god-for-bid, you have to let the boat sit for a couple years with gas in the tanks, you're going to have some really good varnish.

Ran out my October gas over Memorial day wekend. It was fine...well I didn't notice anything anyway.

The 25 gallons of gas in my tank from last season was only $3.25 a gallon! Just doesn't seem right to use it now that it's pushing $5!

Oh well, off to the pumps I go...

May lose a .10 or so not 3 octanes.Ran a few tests awhile back to see for myself the out what the outcome would be.Want to trip out fill a clear bottle with gas cap it and leave it in the sun for an hour or 2 it will turn almost black.
