Lake Havasu City Firefighter Lonnie Pope, with support from Capt. John Kowalski, sprays water on a smoldering 28-foot boat that caught at 3201 Amigo Drive Friday. Another firefighter climbs a ladder to check on the attic over the garage. Firefighters were called to the address at 1:21 p.m. after a trickle charger, being used on the boat's battery, possibly overheated and caught fire, although the cause was being investigated. The flames destroyed the interior of the boat, and then entered a vent on the garage side of the single-story house, where it charred a couple of boards in the attic. The outside of the garage wall received mostly heat damage. The fire was brought under control in less than an hour. Two dogs were removed from the house, but there were no people home at the time. Crews with Engines 2 and 4, and Truck 1, responded to the fire, along with a battalion chief. There were no injuries.

Trickle chargers suck, should be using a charger that shuts off when batteries are fully charged. Besides trickle chargers can actually ruin batteries if they are not having a draw on them.

Sux to hear. 1:21 pm in full turnouts and breathing apparatus...sux even more.

I got on scene of that fire at the same time as the first arriving engine company. They did a good job of getting water on the fire fast and preventing any extension into the house. The fire was impinging on the side of the house, and it was ripping pretty good. Props to Havasu Fire for a job well done

Was it in your neighborhood? or are you monitoring the fire channel on the scanner again.

Was headed down to the channel and saw a little bit of smoke, so I decided to investigate. By the time I got there, there was a pretty good sized header and it was ripping.
Retired fireman, and still drawn to the smoke and excitement. Plus I figured I would help the engineer pull a line to the hydrant if he needed it.
