Not sure, I heard most of that stuff doesn't work. If you're plate is altered or covered in any way, they can pull you over at will.

They had a douchebag on the news that took a marker and changed his numbers. Anyhow he ended up getting a bunch of tickets, sometimes flipping off the cameras. When they finally caught up with him he had tickets and felony charges on top of his tickets.

Just curious. For the most part I try to stay under 10 over, unless I know it's clear.

I've got 2 of every plate I've ever had... just always figured that one was for the garage wall.

I know personalized plates they issue two. If you go into the DMV to get a plate they issue you one. Maybe if they mail them to you, you get two? Not sure, but I don't have extras except for my vehicles with personalized plates.

That could be it as the only time I've gone to DMV for plates was for the Rhino and my trailers, but then again, those are motorcycle sized plates... I'm not really impressed with the new screenprinted plates either. I like the ones that are steel embossed.

40,000 photo speeding tickets issued in first 2 months
    135 commentsby Lindsey Collom - Dec. 2, 2008 05:03 PM
    The Arizona Republic
The Arizona Department of Public Safety has issued more than 40,000 speeding tickets in the first two months of a program that utilizes speed-enforcement cameras.

Drivers have activated the cameras 166,176 times on freeways statewide since September, according to data released Tuesday by the DPS. A total of 40,401 notices of violation have been issued since that time.

If collected, the tickets would generate more than $6.6 million in fines. A speeding ticket is $165 before surcharges.

DPS plans to have 40 mobile units and 60 stationary cameras in operation on freeways throughout the state by February. So far, there are about 20 stationary cameras on Valley freeways.

“Photo enforcement does not replace the highway patrol officer,” DPS Director Roger Vanderpool said in a written statement. “It cannot pull over impaired drivers or aggressive drivers or distracted drivers. It can help slow people down and that goes a long way toward preventing serious injury or even fatal collisions.”

Consider Operation to Border, Vanderpool said. During eight hours on Nov. 26, cameras were activated 505 times on Interstate 10 and Interstate 40, where motorists encountered the speed-enforcement devices every 20 miles. More than 436 citations resulted.

Two collisions — one with injuries — occurred during the operation on I-10 and I-40. In the same time last year, DPS said there were three injury collisions and 29 crashes total.

That the camera does not replace an officer is a major issue for CameraFRAUD, a grassroots organization opposed to speed-enforcement cameras. D.T. Arneson, a CameraFRAUD volunteer, said his group has doubled in membership to about 200 strong in recent days.

“We're just outraged by the process,” Arneson said. “All it comes down to is money as opposed to safety, as opposed to a public good, as opposed to making our roads safe. If the cameras actually reduced violations, they wouldn't be churning out the tickets.”

Maybe some LEO or even BoatCop could step in here and help but don't they have to have a clear picture of the driver since anyone could be operating another's vehicle? Is there a penalty for loaning your car to a speeder? I don't understand how they could ticket you without a clear shot of your face?
