Heard on the news today that Arizona is going to repeal the "stupid" license plate frame law. The law now makes it illegal if your plate frame covers the ARIZONA at the top of the plate.![]()
A bill repealing that portion of the law has been pre-introduced in the legislature. But considering the legislature isn't even in session yet, don't look for anything to happen right away.
Even if enacted, it wouldn't go into effect until late September, at the earliest, and more likely Jan. 1, 2010.
I heard that you could get a ticket if your frame covered up the states name regardless of what state your plates read. It had to do with the new photo enforcement cameras they are catching speeders on the highway with.
I took mine off, I don't want any hassles.![]()

Hey stalker, don't go away mad, just go away.
This State is amazing, all the serious problems facing the economy etc. and they wasted thousands of dollars warning people. The fact is they have irritated so many permanent and part time residents who spend money and do not need to be stopped and fined $130.00 for law that is a waste of time
It would also be nice to have the photo radar cameras set a little higher in those 55mph zones on the 51 freeway. It is just too easy to watch your car drift up to 66-68 mph.
I won't mine paying a $30-50 mail in fine, but yanking 100's of dollars from the average motorist is like cutting off a homeless childs finger for stealing an orange from a farmers grove.

the camera vehicles come up quik...
I saw one on the side of the 40 about a mile or two past the river on the az side, there was a sign on side of road warning motorists that it was ahead. I personally would not want to be the one sitting there operating the camera as it just does not seem like a safe idea... it will prolly come to an end as soon as one or two of them are struck by a car and killed.
