    Default Cool Lake Mead Train Tunnel Hike We Did.

    My wife and I did the old train tunnel hike up above Lake Mead a few weeks ago. It starts near the visitor's center and if you go all the way to the Dam it is about 3.5 miles, so 7 round trip, but it is an easy hike. We brought some lunch. Nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

    Enjoy.

    There are 5 tunnels in total. The rails have been long removed.















    We walked all the way down to the Dam. The new bridge is coming along. That thing is hairy!!!!!

    The last time I hiked it, the last tunnel was closed off. When was the fifth tunnel opened? BTW, those are great pictures...

    They are currently all open and you can walk all the way to the Dam.

    The first time my parents did the hike you couldn't go through all 5 either.

    I used to do that hike with my dog every day. There was a chain link fence after that last tunnel though and you couldn't go past that to the dam. Is that gone now?

    99.9% of the people I work with didn't even know Death Valley was only an hr and a half from here. Most people I know, never leave town to see what is around.

    My wife and I try to do something different every weekend. There is so much great country to see around here. It is amazing!!!
