Airline Says Overweight Travelers Will Need To Buy Extra Seats Or Be Denied Entry To Planes CHICAGO (CBS) ―

If "beefy" or "curvy" describes you, here is a word of warning: United Airlines will begin aggressively enforcing a new policy that allows it to charge heavier passengers twice to fly.

WBBM Newsradio 780 has learned that Chicago-based United has instructed its customer service representatives at O'Hare International Airport ticket counters and gates to be extra vigilant beginning Wednesday for passengers they deem to be overweight.

If you can't fit within your seats area, then you should have to buy two.

Same with heathcare, just like smokers should have to pay more because it cost more to cover them.

I have to fly quite a bit for my job. Let me tell you, it's not any fun sitting in coach next to somebody who is severly obese for 3-4 hours. Why the F do I have to share part of my seat with these people that gorge themselves and never exercise? If they are to big to sit in a coach seat, they should either have to buy 2 coach seats or 1 First Class seat.

It's not the Politically Correct thing to do, but it is the Right Thing to do !

You're ridiculous. Costs more to cover them? For what? Smokers pay for their own life insurance policy over anything work might cover.

Seems to me, the airline should offer a bigger seat to anyone over 6' or over 200 lbs., maybe charge them an extra 10-20%

I'd complain that crack to crack is uncomfortable. Might need an adapter.

Does that mean that there’s a ½ empty set next to the over weight person on a flight that is over sold or has stand by flyers?

Ridiculous my ass. I'm talking about health ins. not life ins. It's a fact that smoking causes more health related medical problems across the board than non smokers. What i am saying that smokers premiums should be higher than non smokers. I also enjoy the occasional cigar, so I consider myself a smoker.

I know what you meant, but it's a hard thing to sell. There are demographics that have a higher rate of being sick, and you'll never see a rise in premiums for a certain group whether it's skin color or sexual orientation

Smoking is a choice. Skin color and most other demographics aren't, sexual orientation is arguable.
