tHE WEATHER REPORTS LOOK GOOD BUT:
Excessive Heat Watch
Statement as of 4:30 AM MDT on May 16, 2009
... Excessive heat watch remains in effect from Sunday morning
through Sunday evening...
An excessive heat watch remains in effect from Sunday morning
through Sunday evening for areas below 4000 feet..
A high pressure system building into the Desert Southwest will
cause daytime temperatures to warm to 15 degrees or more above
normal on Sunday. High temperatures are expected to be around 103
in Las Vegas... 106 in Barstow... 117 in Death Valley and 106 to 110
degrees along the Colorado River. Although temperatures this high
are common later in the Summer months... residents and tourists
alike are not yet acclimated... increasing the danger of heat
related illnesses.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
An excessive heat watch means that a period of hot temperatures
is expected... creating a dangerous situation in which heat
illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of water... stay in an air-
conditioned room... stay out of the sunshine... and check up on
relatives and neighbors.
Thanks guys!. It was a bit windy this AM in BHC but it mellowed out in the afternoon.![]()
