It is better than the TV speakers, but it does not compare to a full surround sound setup.
That is what I was worried about. Getting wires to the back wall is a nightmare. What about wireless rear speakers? Anyone use them?

I have a Yamaha YSP-1. It works well if you have a 4 walled room (not a bunch of hallways, kitchen etc to dissipate the sound waves) and you can tweak it to your liking. As JY said, it won't compare to a true surround system, but if you don't want to hack your walls it will do the job.
I ran my wires to the back wall behind the baseboard and if you have an addic or are on a raise foundation, it is even easier. Wireless speakers are ok if they are the rear surrounds in a 7.1 setup where the rear surrounds don't do much. I don't recommend them for music or higher volume applications.Originally Posted by sdpm
You can also try some cable managment products like this guy has used. I would have done it a little bit different, but it does not look bad.
