What is the inside scoop on what to buy. I am looking at 2000 -08 jeeps, 6 cylinder, a/c, auto, with a lift. I want it to hunt and off road with. Am I missing anything? Any advice would be appreciated.

In 2007 there was a major redesign and thats called a JK Wrangler. 06 and down to 97 is a TJ Wrangler. They are quite a bit different. If you looking used then look at both models.

In 04-06 there is a TJ Unlimited called an LJ. What I have is an 05 Unlimited Rubicon. The Rubicon is an available package that adds locking axles in addition to other things. That is 04 and up, even through the design change and into the current JK platform.

Laveycraft 20.8 Sebring, Jeep Rubicon Unlimited, and no cash left.

Don't really keep up with the newer ones. I'm more into the older CJ's. The only draw back is they only made CJ-5's before 1975 so in Cali you will have to deal with smog laws on a CJ-7.

The Rubicons are very capable rigs but they do come with a price. I am more of the "buy an older and build it to what I want" type of guy so it would really just matter on how much you want to spend and what's on the market. There are countless after market parts for any jeep out ther e from 1976 and up.

Nice Jeep! Thanks for the info. There is a lot of used jeeps out there. I am working on a deal for a 97 TJ that already has a 4" lift on it with 33" tires. It does not have a/c but I can always add it later.

    Thanks.

Yep there are add on Ac kits for sure. So your 97 with have Dana 30 Axle up front and a 35 out back. Fine for 33's and moderate use like you describe.

Garvin makes all kind of wildneress racks, etc that might suite you well for camping/hunting.

Pass on the 4cyl if it has one especially if you plan to load it down with gear.
