Default Remember our Military @ DS 2010

Happy New Year to All !!..

First of all let me say that as ex military myself, 25th Infantry Div. Schofield Bks. HI. C-Company, that I am guilty too.

While scrolling through the past 17 pages or so this morning, due to lack of activity, I noticed something that I believe deserves mention, OUR TROOPS

There seems to be no shortage of meaningless topic chatter, (like I said, I’m guilty too) but throughout all those pages, the affair that Tiger Woods had drew a huge response, and (just an example HOOLI) but “Songs that get stuck in your head’ getting 37 replies, While on 12/17 Cdog starts a thread about Anthony Campbell Jr. a Cincinnati Police Officer who gets called up as an Air Force Reservist in July and gets killed in Afghanistan by an IED and draws 6 replies.

And "Bless our Troops" drew a whopping 11 replies

You see where I’m going with this, DS 2007 several participants offered to take a service member on their boats with them, I took a Marine with me and after the Poker Run we hung out for the rest of the afternoon, that young man was very appreciative and had a really nice time that day.

I know that many of us either know someone or have someone perhaps in their immediate family that is actively providing military service right now.

42Johnny = Has a Son in The Persian Gulf
Mouzer’s = Nephew Brice is in Afghanistan
BigJoeDuckSlayer = Has a Son who is serving (Congrats on his marriage)

So let’s put the “Meaning back in the moniker” and remember our service men and women @ Desert Storm 2010

The Challenge is to go out and spread the word to as many service members as you can, and After Thanking Them for Their service, invite them to this Great event !!..

I have talked with Jim several times in the past few days and I will say to you all that DS 2010 will be the biggest event since it’s birth, which should serve as a beacon of hope to us all considering “Economy 2009”

Come on guys let’s really try to get some of these men and women to attend this event and show them our appreciation.

Great points Pablo, it seems unless you are close to someone who is serving, or their family, it is easy to get caught up in daily affairs.

Perhaps we can start a (sticky) thread (list) for boaters attending DS 2010 who are willing to host a service member on their boat for a given day or weekend. Then, we need to find a coordinator to reach out to the service membert and match them up.

One of my best friends is a Pearl Harbour survivor. His B-Day is also Dec. 7th. He was doing KP at Schofield Bks. HI. when the attach started. He was one of the airplane mechanics that helped get a few of our planes off the ground. I'd love to bring him along.

If he can do it, He's up there in years but pretty healthy for his age, he tires easily. He lives in Hemet, long ride for him.

I think of our troops everyday with my new job. I'm trying to get the best product out to them so that the last thing they have to worry about is a gun that miss fires...

We produce the Ma Deuce (M2 Browning)...

    Smile Great message Pablo

    Guys,

This is a great grass roots idea, every year we have invited a few troops over from Camp Pendelton thru the Soldiers Angles Chaplin's Coordinator Karen Gill of Lake Havasu. 2009 was the only year we could not get any troops to come out and enjoy our hospitality and there were many reasons given.

I'm sure Karen would love to help out this effort and do some coordination, I'll give her a call tomorrow.

I hope to announce some addtional charity opportunities at DS 2010 soon, we're working out some details and may add another day of activites to the week

Don't forget we also gather donations for Soldiers Angels during the event and have a donation selection right in our online store. We take MC and Visa.

Wether you are signing up for DS participation or just want to make a donation, please visit www.shop.lakeracerllc.com
