Not bad IMO after 1 year and especially going up against, Meyer, Saban, Spurrier, Richt etc. Not too bad for a west coast nobody.

Thats not good enough to keep a HC job in the SEC. But I guess USC fans are willing to settle for that. Dont look for any more of those crystal footballs any time soon however.

Re: sanctions; its not a good sign that Carrol bailed before the sanction hearing transcripts where made publically available. Neither is the fact that the job was turned down by other cantidates, which one could assume were better qualified.

I see your a UT fan, do they have one of those Crystal balls? Like I said not bad for a nobody coach from the west coast after his first year. The job was turned down by Riley only, not Del Rio, and not Fisher. I haven't made up my mind yet on Lane but if you think USC lookes foolish, the egg on UT's face will be there a while since REMEMBER they thought enough of him to hire him and now he punks them. OUCH!!!

So does this mean NO Excuses in the future?

And you see them how? Especially with that money hungry Saban, talk about lack of loyalty, see LSU and Miami. Speaking of Miami, was he successful there?

BTW, congrats on the Tides season, well done!!

Like i see 'em. BTW, Saban's comp is third behind Stoops and Mack Brown. Having said that he's paid to be successful, not popular. In addition, he actually does know the recruiting rules, and has managed to avoid receiving any compliance letters from the league head office. Kiffin earned several public warning, and two actual letters in less than the 14mos he was at UT. Is this the guy you want running your program when its already on thin ice with the NCAA?

Finally, having seen the revolving door at Bama for the last 15 years because of the same NCAA issues USC faces now, I do feel for the fans.
But man, Kiffin? Thats as big a head scratcher as the infamous Mike Price hire.

This is a GREAT move. 1) Kiffin and Ed Orgeron are recruiting Monsters! USC should have the top recruiting class this year as well as going froward. 2) Monte Kiffin is a Defensive Guru. 3) If they can seal the deal with Norm Chow (The Master) then watch out! 4) If Kiffin fails to be what is needed, then USC can replace him on their terms and in their time frame and still have a rich talent base on the roster.

    FIGHT ON!!!!

I don't think Kiffen and his coaching staff would be at SC if Carrol knew about any horrible sanctions. Lane is a good freind of Petes and Monty has been Petes mentor for years. I'm sure Pete would let them know what he knew.

Some sports guys are reporting that SC will get a slap on the wrist. But we will see in a couple months.

You mean, you dont think a guy would take a job he's totally unqualified for that paid a bunch of money if it were offered to him? Hint: look up Mike Schula's resume.

No doubt. I bet USCs football HOSTesses are much more attractive. But I don't think the NCAA will like it any better.

Sounds like a lot of people think Kiffin's a moron, including some SC people but since he's bringing some good coaches along there ok with it. Good luck, but some of these older coaches will not put up with his shit including Chow who left SC because of Kiffin. As a UCLA fan I'm feeling good with this hire.
