    Default Hilton Waikoloa Village, Hawaii

A while ago i posted a thread about picking a honeymoon destination and got a lot of great feedback from some people, thank you.

I think we have found our destination. The Hilton Waikoloa Village in Hawaii, and was wondering who has been there and their experience.

Could not have picked up a better spot! The lagoon is awesome. My wife won't swim in the ocean, too scared of the big fish, so she has never gone snorkling. Couldn't keep her out of that protected lagoon. The fish are more abundant and more variety than any other snorkling we have done in Hawaii
The entire resort is Killer. Have fun!

Nice resort, but know that other than the lagoon, you don't have extensive beaches.

The boats that drive you around are cool, but get old if there a week. LOL It is a very large resort and has some great views of the ocean. You can swim from the lagoon straight into the ocean if you wish, which I dont wish.

Stay in the Lagoon Tower. This is the best location. Get the ocean view room. The first floor has walkin patio from the pool area, which is nice. Skip the second floor as the trees block the view of the ocean. 3rd or 4th floor is good, you get great sunsets and can watch the dolphins in the learning center.
The lagoon is awesome. Snorkle around the waterfall area, there are always about 5-10 sea turtles hanging out there.

I did not like the luau there. They packed in way too many people. I would try one of the smaller ones.

Yeah we noticed there where no beach areas but everything else sounds killer. We where thinking about getting a rental car so we could drive to another beach is we desire. I'm pumped. To bad its not untill may.

Ditto on the Lagon Tower. Stayed in a ground floor room about 30 ft from the Dolphin training center, very cool to sit on the patio in the am and watch the young adults play with each other. The resort is huge and parking is (literally) a mile away, so be very prepared for lots of walking and hauling your stuff back and forth if you're gonna do any side trips! The adjacent golf course is a fun one also!

This a great resort. I haven't been back since 2002, but my daughter just loved the Dolphin swim and boatsandtoys is correct about the lagoon, it is great for snorkeling.

However, if there is one part that sticks in my memory, I ordered a plain coke at the pool and was shocked to find out that it was $4.75 and that was in 2002.

Have fun and bring lots of money.....you'll need it!

(There is a Walmart in Kona so you don't have to get completely raped by the resort)

Off the beaten path Big Island Adventures:

Boar Hunting (which usually includes a clandestin pot farm or two)
    Snow Skiing (14,000ft peak Mauna-kea)
    Boat Rentals

Also, the telephone polls have numbers at the top. Pole number 69 has a road to the nudist beach "Beach 69". (stupid trivia)

Thanks guys, and if anyone has any recomendations on places to eat or things to do I'm all ears. I'm pumped on the lagoon, I've been wanting to go snorkleing for a few years now and was hoping to be able to do some when we go. Sounds like the perfect spot for a beginner.
