Rescue me! Flat Coated Golden Retriever.

Here is my latest rescue. He is an owner surrender that we got from a pound in Las Vegas. He is now living at my home in Orange County but would like a furever home of his own.

Donovan is a Black Flat Coated Golden Retriever. His coat is very shiny and he is super super soft like a rabbit. He gets along well with others dogs and his foster sister who is also a Golden loves to chase him in the yard. Donovan is just fine with our cat, goos with kids, loves belly rubs and is super soft. He likes his chew toys, is house broken, knows how to use the doggie door and has a super soft coat. He knows the basic sit, down and stay but that's about it so he still needs some work. Donovan is super soft, a counter surfer and will run down the street if given the chance but does not go to far. Walking on a leash is not a problem as he does not pull. We have taken him to the dog beach and although he did not go swimming like my dog does he is OK with getting his paws wet. In the morning he likes to rest his nose on the bed and say hello but will not jump up on the bed. If you are sitting on the floor he thinks he is a lap dog and will sit and lean his soft coat right up against you.

One question, since I'm not into "breeds", why is a black colored dog called a "golden" retriever?

My bad. They are just called Flat Coated Retrievers. Most of them are always black and very few are of the golden color. Golden Retrievers range from a rich golden color to a very light cream color that some people call white retrievers but there is actually no white golden retrievers. The flat coated retriever is very close to a Labrador retriever.

He is one of the sweetest rescues we have had and the one we would keep but one more dog is just one too many.

He is a super dog, loves kids, loves cats, loves everything. Although he is almost 3, he is still a big puppy.
