Last minute and beach? I don't think so anymore. Except Pismo this time of year. Casitas is easy this time of year.

Try Carlsbad State Beach or San Elijo State Beach both in north San Diego County. They have tent camping available but reservations are required.

You will need some luck to get into elijo or carlsbad. pisses me off too, you can drive though and see vancat sites all over but you will likely not get one. I think the staff is way short so they only allow so many sites to be used. We are going halloween, had my site for like 7 months now and i barely got one.

I would think that i would assume it to be on the ocean, I don't normally think of the little bits of sand along the river as "beaches", at least not in the sense i thought he was asking about...

I guess from reading over that, I was making a lot of assumptions..

This time of year you shouldn't have a problem getting in.
