Default Picked up my first PB today I am excited.

So excited to finally get MY first boat, well I had a project flatbottom but I got rid of it. I have been on the water since I was born 31 years and it feels great to finally have my own boat. I had a thread on here about the Howard 220 offshore as that was the boat I had my heart set on however one guy I was talking to that had a 220 offshore kinda blew me off. After 2 weeks of waiting for pictures and some people I guess just don't wanna sell their stuff and I had cash in hand. I was out on Havasu this morning test driving the boat and loved it so here is what I got a 1998 shockwave 2500 open bow mid cuddy with a 454 mag, trim tabs and a bravo one. Bought it off the original owner and there is not even a scratch on the gel coat and interior is immaculate. Not to mention I got a killer killer deal on it. Does anyone know how to get the painted name off of the transom without screwing up the gel coat? Its faded and kinda looks like crap.

Congrats on the new boat. Good looking boat. Perfect timing for summer to start. Had the similar kind of boat for my first boat too. I had a 2003 advanatge 25 citation mid cabin open bow. Awesome boat until I had kids and grew out of it. Enjoy it.

Thanks should be a while before I outgrow it, seems to seat 12 comfortably. We are having our first child any day now so I have a month off for "maternity leave" so gonna take it out soon. Gotta love this whole equal rights crap.

The owner put on some Rex Mar mufflers but I wanna remove them, too quiet just not enough growl for me so I need to figure out what regular exhaust tips I can put back on.

You can color sand with 1000, then hit it with some rubbing compound and finish with polish. You can do this by hand but if you have a buffer it makes the job easier. Also, most decent detailer's can do this, it's actually pretty easy to do without hurting the gel.

Easy off oven cleaner. Do not spray it or let any of get on anything else
other than the lettering. Mask off and apply the oven cleaner to the lettering, allow to sit for 10 mins. Then wipe off with a cloth, you should have to repeat this once more to remove it all.
Long time pinstipper / lettering guy trick.

GR8WHITE, I gave you a lot of info on the Howard 220 you were thinking of but I can honestly say you have made an excellent choice. The mid-cabin open bow design is far more flexible and if your Shockwave 2500 is the same bottom as the Tremor that is a straight 24 degree deadrise. I know you mentioned that towing was no problem for your rig so the larger boat seems to work for you. Good luck and post a bunch of additional pics, it's great to see a Shockwave with timeless colors to boot! Is the motor you have the 385HP version?

fyi, I would hold off on removing those muffler's until you put a bunch of hours under your belt with a newborn and postpartum wife on board. Growl is nice for about 3O minutes.........
