    Default Diesel Smog Check

Had to have my 05 Chevy diesel smoged checked today. They looked at the truck,
opened the hood for a look, read the computer, scaned the bar code on registration.
That will be $54.00 please. What rip off!!

Should have shopped around, it should be the same price as a gas smog check. They actually do less work. $30-$35

Yea I paid $55. However it passed so thats all that matters.

I'd rather pay $20 more than have to put all the stock stuff back on.

I have an AFE intake and filter, Banks exhaust and chip. They dont care, I just turned the power level all the way down and low boost fueling to the lowest. No smoke at all.

Wow thats cool! It was my 1st diesel smog so I didnt know what to expect. This guy said he's pass it so I took it there. I didn't change to a lower setting or anything. Is your DPF and DOC gone? Mine are. I run turbo back (inc. down pipe). I dont even run a muffler. My truck smells offensive at idle. .... especially with red dye! haha

Any diesel performance modification has been grandfathered in as legal as long as the manufacturer has submitted said modification to ARB for testing. If they get an EO, they will contnue to be allowed. If not, the next time around you may have a problem.
