Dodger stadium beating update

The first guy will not get jack. Aside from too many news stories, LE arrest people all day long that are DA rejects or kick outs. They have PC, but not enough for a filing with the DA, or the DA asks for more investigation. That being said from what I understand he was a "PAL", parole at large, AND a judge issued a search AND arrest warrant for him. Those two warrant in nearly ever instance insulates cities from lawsuits unless intentional lies were in the affidavits to the judge.

So the first guy is not much different than anyone else arrested on a felony open warrant signed by a judge, PLUS with the search warrant, in which I would think the suspect would be listed as a person being sought during the search, all in in line with the law.

If I were going to toss a few stones, it would be at the legnth and some detail of what was said in the early news releases, way too much detail. These are legnthy ongoing investigations and outside influenses can damage these investigations.

LAPD did what any good PD would do, continue their investigation to locate evidence and statements linking suspect 1 (Goivanni) to the crime, and be open minded to any other information that comes in. It seems they did that, and those clues led then to the second set of suspects. The information gathered in on the second set of suspect led the DA to file a case while they were still in the intial 72 hour custody.

Now the chick bailed out, and LAPD has something like 25-30 days to make a case on her without rearresting her. If they do, she will be filed on by the DA, and when she appears for her arraignment per her bail out slip, she will learn the bad news.

Now she could be taken into custody at that time based upon a bail increase, which can include additional counts filed. Keep in mind I would expect many more search warrant being issued in this case.

Saw a news report today, and I can read between the lines, LAPD and the DA flipped girlfriend (driver). She was aparently in the grand jury on Friday. If that happens, no prelim, straight to trail for the two main fools.

Smart move, focus on the best evidence and testimony against the main suspects.

It was way to early to figure out what they might receive if convicted. The issue as to charges seems to be if a weapon is used or not, that is a huge deal if any weapon, even a key in the eye for instance, was used. Time will tell amd as the proceeding begin and perhaps testimony begins the DA complaint can be amended.
