    Default Norway gun laws

I know this horse gets beat alot, but makes you think how many lives could have been saved if there was only 1 armed citizen on that island. For a person to plan such a massacre must be easy. All they have to do is plan their attack and not have to worry about defensive positions. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

Now Finland has announced they are in-acting MORE strict gun laws after these events in Norway. Seriously, what is it with this insatiable drive to disarm the public and leave them completely helpless when a bad man comes knocking?

    I really don't understand.

Just saw a post in the "politics" section. Sorry if this is out of place, I just don't care to browse the "political" section, too much hate there. Just wanted to share a little info I found interesting.

    Very twisted reasoning imo.

Outlaws will always have guns no matter what. (that's why they're called outlaws).

Everytime there is a high profile shooting there is this outcry, I don't get it either.

I was wondering this. Are people in Norway allowed to own guns?

Default Some World History on Gun control

What is that old saying......if you don't know history it is bound to repeat it's self??????????

1929 - Soviet Union est. Gun Control - 1929-53 approx. 20 million rounded up and exterminated because they were unable to defend themselves.

1915 - Turkey est. Gun Control - 1915-17 approx. 1.5 million Armenians rounded up and exterminated because they were unable to defend themselves.

1938 - Germany est. Gun Control - 1939-45 approx. 13 million Jews rounded up and exterminated because they were unable to defend themselves.

1935 - China est. Gun Control - 1948-52 approx. 20 million rounded up and exterminated because they were unable to defend themselves.

1964 - Guatamala est. Gun Control - 1964-81 approx. 100K Mayan Indians rounded up and exterminated because they were unable to defend themselves.

1970 - Uganda est. Gun Control - 1971-79 approx. 300K Christians rounded up and exterminated because they were unable to defend themselves.

1956 - Cambodia est. Gun Control - 1975-77 approx. 1 million(labeled as educated people) rounded up and exterminated because they were unable to defend themselves.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th century by their government because of gun control: approx. 56 million

Yea, but are highly regulated. What guns their government does allow them to own are for hunting and hobby only. They must be locked in a safe and unloaded or have a vital part removed ie. bolt, slide..., and that part locked in a safe. You are not allowed to transport that weapon with out permission and must have a valid reason for doing so. Licensing and psychological evaluations are required to purchase the gun and ammunition. Haven't found an actual list of approved guns, but did find that most , if not all semi-autos(pistols, rifles and shotguns) are banned.
90% of the police don't carry guns!

If I were a politician, which I'm not or never will be simply because I have a conscience, I couldn't live with myself if I was responsible for disarming good people and this happens. People need to wake up and understand that the only person you can count on to protect you and your loved ones is YOU. Not to bash the police officers here, but they can't be everywhere at the same time.

Riverside and San Bernardino Counties issue CCW permits. I have had one for 6yrs. There are alot of hoops they make you jump through, but if you're determined and clean, then they'll issue it. It's like dealing with the DMV but worse.

I carry everywhere, and I mean everywhere. The saying I live by is "I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

If that cop still has a job, then there is something terribly wrong with the system.

The same can be said for out college campus' that don't allow firearms. They are easy pickings for a deranged person with a gun.

Check out some of the stories that have come out of the UK. You talk about anti-gun and anti-self defense. No way would I live there!!!

Utah law allows for conceal carry on all state campuses and public lands.
What's funny is if you look at the crime stats (from 2009, I haven't looked into it recently) for University of Utah (in SLC), Westminster College (South SL), and BYU (Provo), only the U of U allows for CCW. Of all three, BYU has the highest rate of assault. The U of U has the lowest.
The pervs must be afraid of the gals carrying at the U.
