Info I get is they have been given the opportunity to take over Peninsula sites 1-15. Discussions on going but nothing definite yet . My understanding is Moabi owns the rights to Peninsula sites until 2014, when the rights will be renegotiated . Pirates must feel pretty confident as they are starting upgrades on those sites. Residence beach rumored to move to site 19...

Would this be a good thing for moabi? Im asking both people that knew the old moabi as well as what it is now. I know there are mixed emotions on Pirates.

I enjoy the bar on week days, the rest of you can have it on weekends.
I'll be absolutely pissed if the screw up the peninsula sites. Its been a treasure to us less fortunate for years. Closest thing to owning a waterfront, if only for 10 days a year.

Thanks for the info. although I am a wondering about splitting up the property and leasing out the part of the property that is most important the water front. The County is making a serious mistake and obvious needing $'s.It should be all or nothing not piece it up.This is going to hurt the residents of Moabi and I am sorry for them.

I think you have some good info...looks to be $$$ talking...2014 or sooner by the looks of how SBC has cut staff at the park to bare minimum and park repairs have gone to almost ZERO unless it is an emergency repair.. there is a lot more to the story and will come out as time permits.

SBC parks is doing NOTHING except bare maintenance to the entire park even though there is a HUGE constant revenue stream from the mobile home leases every month, there is also a large amount of money SBC Rangers collect from the day beach use every Saturday and Sunday (if that is even added into the park income) who knows where that $$ goes.......SBC does almost nothing in repair for months and months and have been letting the park go down hill for the last 6-12 months so maybe the writing is on the wall.

Here is my opinion. PC has ruined that part of the river for a lot of folks, the family friendly area of that part of the river is basically gone on the weekends.....

The Crowds are like never before, increase in OUI traffic, alcohol sales to patrons that take the tubs of booze and get on their boats without any control with almost NO intervention from the ABC, SBCS, BLM or any of the other LEO departments that should be concerned with these issues, what seems to be a huge increase in less courteous boaters, more fights started from out of control idiots with no respect..etc etc etc...so us locals that loved park Moabi HATE what PC has done to that part of the river...lots of people sadly just waiting for a huge lawsuit...

That said if PC took over the park they will more than likely dump some good $$$ into everything needed including paved roads, better care of the park (anything is better than what SBC does), they will turn it into a Islander or River Palms type place....... BUT EXPECT an increase in fees for launching, increased fees for beaching in the channel, increased fees for campers, raising rates across the boards..
I could live with the improvements and the increases if we were to keep our place in the park but I know a lot of folks that could not afford it and that is where more issues will come up.. Federal land owned by the public and made affordable for decades to the general public would be totally controlled by a private entity and those less fortunate will be financially restricted from enjoying federal land.

If it happens: For those that visit the channel from other locations, it will more than likely be a lot of fun. For those that have gone there for years for the quiet family friendly atmosphere, time to find another place to go or just go during the weekdays...

I don't really care for PC. Food ok but priced to High, channel pretty scummy since PC opened. I would rather cuirse to the Springs and eat there and hit some nice little beaches on the way back up Lake.
