Default Ex Chicago Bear snubs the White House

This may get redirected to another section of the forum but I enjoyed the read.

President Barack Obama recently extended an invite to the 1985 Chicago Bears for a long-delayed visit to the White House. One Hall of Famer from that team will not be making the trip. Former Bears defensive tackle Dan Hampton told Chicago's 890 WLS-AM that he would not visit the White House in October.

"It's my personal choice," Hampton told WLS. "I don't choose to go."
"Secondly, I’m not a fan of the guy in the White House, and third, it was 25 years ago. Let it go.”
According to the report, Hampton was bothered that players' wives and children were not also invited.
"It basically just rolled off our backs, and now, 25 years later to say, ‘Let’s put the band back together.’ No, I’m not in,” Hampton added.
Hampton, elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002, made four Pro Bowls and was a four-time All-Pro selection. He was a member of the 1980s All-Decade team and an All-Rookie selection in 1979.
President Obama is a noted Chicago sports fan -- including the Bears -- and will welcome them to the White House on Oct. 7. Earlier this year, he hosted the rival Green Bay Packers at the White House following their Super Bowl victory.

Great for him standing up on princpals......I would also if I had the honor under this administration.

So did Obama get bored with playing golf?

I think some NASCAR drivers did the same, did they not?

Although im not a huge fan of Obama i still respect the postiion of our commander and cheif and would consider it an honor to be invited to this great nations whitehouse. No matter your politics the position of our president deserves respect. I dont agree with about 99.9% of what this man does but i root for him to do the right thing every single day. I respect anyone who makes the choice not to go but i for one would jump at the chance and treat the position (not the man, the position) with the respect it deserves.

Would you still believe that if we ever have a president killing innocent civilians in the streets?

Doc and icy, read the sentance in perenthacies. As far as murduring inocent cicvilians in the streets, Obama has not been directly linked to such ghadafi tactics as of yet but if that where the case then id think we would have a whole other set of issues on our hands besides the decision on weather or not to visit the whitehouse.

And Doc, you say respect has to be earned, i say the position, not the man deserves respect. You disagree? I think the moment the bombs where droped on Japan the "position" of the president of the instantly most powerful country in the world earned a ton of respect. Thats not to say the "kenyan" as you are so fond of calling our cic isnt undermining said respect but i still believe there is respect due.

cic as you put it means little. Commander in Chief has a significant element to our forces, military and heads of states. As you put it I agree our cic is a non issue . We have no Commander in Chief but we have a cic that is all about campainging and does not control his own household. As the cic said "You want a Commander in Chief? You can start by standing up for the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States, even when it's not politically convenient" You earn respect you do not just get it, sorry I mean you don't bow down to everyone.

Obama, like Clinton, is a usurper, because only the "true" americans- which only means a dyed in the wool hyper conservative- should be allowed to run the country......RIGHT?

I have to say, I really get sick of the hyper-right absolutely disrespecting the true ideals of the Constitution and what our forfathers believed- namely, that who the people vote in IS the president.....If you don't like this country, get out.....don't try to take it over and tell the rest of us what to do. Govt by the people, not a few, and not just the rich.....no matter how many jobs they create.....in CHINA!!!

Why do you guys not get upset about the traitor Cheney, who outed a CIA operative? Or how about when a economic advisor told him the debt is out of hand and needs to be addressed, to which Cheney stated, "Debt doesn't matter"......and "You are fired!"........

But hey, it's wrong to have any suggestion of socialism, yet it's OK to sell the US's future to China....which I believe is Communist...right? And just why is COMMUNIST China kicking our azzes? Maybe because they are pragmatic, rather than fanatic, and use what works, not just the same answer for everything....

"WE will destroy the country, unless you do what we say" THAT's what our forfathers wanted? You are such great caretakers of this country, huh?

IDIOTS! Like I said, Reagan would spit on you, the Teabaggers and most of the Repubs...they are nothing like what he stood for.

    OK, I'll play.
Fact - This current president defrauded his way into office with lies.
Fact - This clown has disrespected our entire military presence over the past century with apologies.
Fact - My two nephews, serving in Iraq, hate the clown for his failed leadership as does almost every single soldier they serve with.
Fact - I live near Luke AFB and encounter military personnel quite often. Few if any have an ounce of respect for this moron and openly admit it.
Fact - This clown has taken a tough economy and made it a complete disaster with failed stimulus spending, bailouts and campaign paybacks
Fact - The stimulus bill funded "Fast and Furious" where our own ATFE agents sold drug cartels assault firearms that have come back to kill Americans
Fact - This standing president has funded more abortions worldwide than any before him. He's the king of slaughtered babies.
Fact - This person surrounded himself with incompetent buffoons that have taken our country further down his wrong road than America can withstand.
Fact - The current potus rammed socialist legislation down the throats of Americans against their will using his democrat majority.
Fact - He has no birth certificate from Hawaii or any other US state and his sealed records and phony submissions prove that clearly.
Fact - This man has less love for America and it's founders than any other I have ever seen hold office in my life.

Fact - There comes a point where the sheep will vote payments for themselves with their votes and he's the product of such.

As a result, I'll not respect the office blindly with a Muslim - anti-American in office any more than I will call the baby's room safe with a wolverine in it.

This also helps explain your choice in boats.............

NO! It doesn't explain my choice; I am not a sheep like you.....I water ski, and boat camp....try doing that with your drag boat....a few burned arms and legs, a sunk boat or two, and 15 trips to move your gear from the ramp to the campground. I understand that some people are horizontally inadequate and so have to try and impress other people with big suragate......things, but I bought my boat for me, not for you.....'cause I simply could give a rat's azz less what you think of me...I make all my decisions based on what >I< want....try it some time, if you ever get some self-esteem.....

As for being an illegitimate prez.....I know you are talking from the standpoint of "Noone but a hyper-con should be allowed to be pres", but guess what, we have something called democracy, where the PEOPLE vote their leader in......simply put, the previous prez was illegitimate, because THE PEOPLE voted for Gore.....of course, YOU think the people are rabble in your mind and only the RICH (Our sainted priest-kings) should be able to choose this countries leadership....well, by Cheney's stated concepts, we should elliminate all taxes on the rich, elliminate any legal restrictions for them and make sure that the Rich own every single penny in this country....but it seems to me that the rich- sorry "Job Creaters"- are only creating jobs overseas...how does that benefit the US?.....you know, it becomes more and more evident that the Hyper-cons have decided that feudalism is the wave of the future- the few(rich) own everything, and the only other position to hold is "Serf" and they are damn lucky that their masters allow them to live in THEIR(rich's) country......I want to see one rich guy manufacture every part and assemble it and market it himself....all by himself....oh yeah, he and his rich friends must buy it, too.....cause the rabble won't have any money.....Class warfare? Yes! The rich and the Repubs have been waging class warfare for the past 3 decades.....
