I wonder if they pay dues?

You see how many vice-presidents they have? Even though some don't get paid by the union, they do get extra perks like trips for organizing and meetings. I know of a few union officials that went to a contract negotiation meeting on the union's dime. They took their families on the way. Made three stops all on the union's dime. Took them a week to drive 400 miles. Of course everywhere they stopped on the way for a rest stop had golf courses. $5000 to drive there and back as well as being paid for being on union business instead of on the job. This didn't include the costs for the stay during the negotiations or the dinners for the officials and their families. All paid for by the rank and file that make 10%.

Corporate greed is corporate greed. Im pretty confident that after all the benefits and "perks" (hidden and visible) are accounted for it gets pretty high.

Corporate CEO's are generally held far more accountable than any union boss also. (Although corporate CEO's can certainly rob the company just as fast and easy)

UD, that just about as stupid as sayin if YOU are OK with the pay scales and responsibilites fo your mayor, city supervisors, governor, state senators, US sentors, and congressmen, VP and POUTS who is it for ME to bitch.

Those asswipes are costing the taxpayers billions. Why do you think went after them. You don't think he knew the money those thiefs cost the taxpayer. You like supporting the lifestyle of these pricks, thats fine. I rather toss their asses to the streets.

Looks to me like the writing is on the wall for those guys.


I care greatly about taxpayers being held hostage but simply choose to stick to the thread title vs go into private vs public for the 10Kth time.

This is a fair point - as long as the union membership/dues is voluntary and not comprised of govt workers (paid by taxes.)

We use the same defense for corp CEOs and their fat paychecks; if the stockholders are letting it happen, it's not my concern.

1st point -

If held in the scope of just that - agreed. GN's point is also right when you consider the greater macro effects but I was trying to stick to the post. (I also dont dont feel Im particularly stupid at least not yet)

2nd point

CEO pay is determined by the board - the stockholders get to vote with their money. I've pulled out of certain stocks over executive compensation. (Tyco - before Dennis fell)
