Just when you thought he wouldn't do more damage in an election year. Oh sure, they are denying it's a real proposal but the simple fact is that they have already discussed how the new government office known as the "Surface Transportation Revenue Alternatives Office" will be established in conjunction with this new tax. With over 1000 Federal offices/agencies who believes it's wise to create more instead of cutting many of them?

Hasn't something like this been proposed and shot down a few times in the past.

The problem with this government's mindset (this goes way way deeper than the Prez) is they won't be happy until they intrude in and regulate every friggin thing in people's lives. Especially those things they can impose more tax on. They can't close the purse strings in any meaningful manner so the answer it just tax the shit out of citizens until the country falls into socialism by circumstance of no one being able to survive much less prosper without being on some form of government assistance. I'm really down on our governments direction and its not a party line thing at all. Few in Congress "get it", far too few to change the course presently.

Oh I belive it even know we allready are being taxed by the mile every time you stop at the pump,This would be just great for my wife and I,my wife HAS to travel from one shop to the other now with her cut backs and Im driving anyware I can for work so again Zero fucks the average joe.

You will find the insurance companies are behind this. Dig a bit deeper and you will find Soros money invested in the insurance business. Look no further than Progressive Insuarnce and those little plugin recorders.

Long over due. We already pay gas tax, but you already knew that. A more efficient and effective tax based on mile driven and weight of the vehicle would make much more sense.

Only if all taxes on tires, gas, and all other transportation taxes is removed. But that will never happen so it's just another in a long lists of taxes they want to add so they don't have to cut wasteful spending.

I dont' know about all transportation taxes, but certainly the fuel taxes should be altered. A phase in period would work best. And yes, wasteful spending needs to be cut.

Personally, I'm NOT OK with the Gov. tracking my miles or driving habits/ movements.

The biggest problem with this tax idea is it will be no different than all the other transportation taxes we pay. All the transportation taxes are supposed to be used for building and maintaining of transportation infrastructure. With the amout of tax's they collect for transportation we should have pristine roads and bridges, etc. And wasn't the stimulus suposed to create all these shovel ready jobs for transportation infrastructure ? What happened with that ? The bottom line is this is nothing but another idea by O and the libs to make up for thier horrendous spending without having to clean house.
