Don't celebrate too early. Wait until you see how the media covers it up and glosses over it before you feel confident. These people love him. They would find a way of Obama selling Alaska and Hawaii and handing over Puerto Rico to Russia into a good thing for the US.

But would you want Russia controlling it? The PR government would never be able to govern themselves so you can bet someone would step in. Just like the relationship between the USSR and Cuba in the 60's. Having Russian control that close to the US wouldn't be in our best interest. Cuba is too close already. Having both with ties to Russia would be a bad thing. At least we could sandwich in Cuba if the strategic need arises.

In the past few decades Russia was no threat at all. I wouldn't count Russia as a non-threat right now. Forget about the blogs and the media. Talk to people in DHS and you'll hear a real shaky response. They don't want to tell you that they're keeping their eye on them, but they are watching closely. Putin is a man that has no respect for this administration and has no problem playing chicken with the US. Cuba still has ties to the Kremlin. Russia isn't intrenched in Cuba, but if needed, could have whatever they needed on Cuban shores.

The people of Russia aren't aligned with Putin. My son's good friend was on the woman's tennis team on scholarship. She's from Moscow. She does not want to go back at all. Her parents are doing anything they can to help keep her here. They don't trust Putin.

Check out this blog, I find it interesting. It is a Russian blog about everyday life and all things Russia, and they do discuss the military quite a bit. They go into cold war era bunkers, show Russian military shit, etc. They weren't ever much of a threat to the US. You can see the sad state of a lot of their military equipment.

How foolish to discount the danger of any country with any number of nuclear arms that could be in an adversarial position?

Doc, as you well know RTI has not one second of experience or exposure to any fact to base his BS on.
He usually pulls an opinion out of his arse, finds some internet intellectual that wrote some paper on the subject that backs up his "thoughts", and posts it as evidence.

Myself and at least one other on here have first hand exposure to what transpired and does transpire now concerning Russia's capabilities and past actions.
In short, like always, he has not one clue what he is talking about.

RTI wasn't even a twinkle in his daddy's eye when the Cuban Missile Crisis took place. How the hell would he know what the capibilities were of the Soviet Union. He also wouldn't know how close we came to MAD. I'd advise him to Google it but why bother....No one is so blind as those who won't see.
