Jobs....

I was listening to a talk show on XM radio yesterday morning.....About jobs....Not sure of the political affiliations, but they had an Economist that seemed to know what he was talking about...
Her are some of the highlights..
Since Jan 2009 under obama the American economy has added 4.5 million jobs. BUT, the actual NET job growth is far less at 1.5 million....Meaning we have lost 3 million jobs... Also during that same time frame we have added 8 million "worker age" citizens to the workforce... This is from the Dept of Labor Statistics...

Unemployed criteria... In order to be considered "unemployed" you must:
A...Be out of work
B...Be available for full time employment
C...Be actively searching for work.
Again, from the Dept of Labor Statistics..

Unemployment surveys: (I had no idea about this)
The Census Dept of the US Gov't actually goes door to door in order to compile labor statistics. They knock on doors during business hours to see who is home, and why...They question who ever answers the door as to how many live there, how many are working, how long they've been out of work etc etc...These interviews then become part of the data used to establish the percentage, (currently 8.2) of Americans unemployed....

He had a bunch more to say, and it was very much NOT presented with any political slant, just facts, and I found it very informative....

Yes but you leave out those that lost thier jobs, went on unemployment, got a new job, worked for 6 months, lost that job. they are not elligible to go back on unemployment becuase they worked too long to go back on unemployment under thier first employer and not long enough to collect unemployment under the new employer. You know how many of those there are out there. More than 100's of thousands if not millions.

The unemployment numbers also do not include grad students that have never had a job with their 250,000 doctors degree in sociology. Or cronically unemployable dirt pushers.
It doesn't include retirees that aren't replaced.

Using this fucked up method it is therotcially possible to never hire another person, eventually have nobody working, and have zero unemployment. And Oblaimo is trying his damnest to accomplish just that.

I know quite a few that fall into this category.

Also, once you stop collecting benefits they ASSUME you are working.

Here are the facts in chart form. These come from the US Department of Labor using the same calculations for each president. The sad truth is that until 2009, millions of professionals (insurance sales, stock brokers, real estate agents, etc.) were gainfully employed but today, with zero income, are still considered employed since they are not collecting unemployment nor have applied. In AZ alone over ten thousand real estate agents did NOT renew their licenses and it's far worse in many other states. The true unemployment for the Kenyan's entire term has exceeded 10% but for the sake of valid comparison, using the US Dept. of Labor's own statistics, here's the reality. This clown has America on the ropes indeed with absolutely no plan to correct it after having three 1/2 years to do something.

That doesn't sound like it could be accurate at all. They aren't going to everybody's house 4 times a year, so they must be running random samples and that is same as saying unemployed people are evenly distributed...which they are not.Nobody is home, are they working?Or job hunting?Everybody went to the store....and unemployment went down...

And if they contact the same group of people every time all they have established is the rate of unemployment within that group and if the check a completely different group what are the chances of hitting within 1-2 tenths of a % every time? The only value that number has would a rather inaccurate way to track changes.
The correct way would be to track contributions to irs/ss....
Government won't do that...the numbers would be way scary...

Are government workers a good thing? Should we bolster the unemployment by hiring more government workers like this asshat suggests. Like maybe more EPA agents? More CIA and FBI agents to keep tabs on everybody? Or more people to track your daily movements, where you go and what you do. More useless ass dragging federal LEOs? More DMV workers, or more liberal spewing teachers?

My fondest wish is every single government worker ends up getting some low ass paying job at McDs. Then they would realize, MAYBE, just how much of a drudge they were on the American taxpayer.
Imagine for one second, zombie and CVX in the private sector. Scary. Like homeless scary.

And BTW, FYI, nobody lost a job in the government. Thats next to impossible to do. EVERYBODY knows that! They are jobs that were filled when somebody left. GOOD. The fucking system is bloated as it is now. It still could use to lose another million or so, JUST INSIDE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. Nation wide, tens of millions.

Rod, you must be speaking of the States that are actually working to balance their budgets because your hero has NOT reduced Federal Jobs since taking office.

Why would he. Those 600,000 were state and local. And 80%of those were dead weight and should have been trimmed years ago. O is in charge of the Fed Gov and they have added 100,000 jobs.
