Sounds like 20K troops are comming home. Don't forget Patreus is running the show over there and we were getting our asses kicked until he got there.

Other than his failed policies regarding the Border (Southern for those of you in Rio Linda) I thought it was a good speech for a lame duck President. I just don't understand what’s wrong with spending all those leeches back where they belong until a time in which they come across legally, then secure the border once in for all.

I liked the speech. We're screwed as is the rest of the world if Hillary or Obama gets in.

Basically they are afraid to piss off the Mexicans. They get pissed when threatened to lose free healthcare and school for the ninos. They need jobs here to get the cash to buy property in Mexico.
    Hell I'd be pissed too.

Did you notice how the Dems wouldn't even give courtesy applause whe the president talked about not raising taxes. They are really anxious to get deeper into all taxpayers wallets.

    Whatchu talkin' bout Willis?

No doubt it's a personal problem, but I have a hard time watching Bush. Way to many smirks and "boy I am cool" grins.

I'm not a fan, but what else is new.

    It's time to move on

If you had read my posts in the political section of HB etc you would know that I have been critical of President Bush for years, over his inability to be a strong leader of his party and use his veto pen etc, to control spending. I have also been critical of wastefull, costly programs like "No Child Left Behind" etc...The sad fact is, that when the party that generally opposes government spending had control of all branches of government they couldn't resist the temptation to try to buy votes with public largess. I can only imagine how it will be if the party that favors increased public spending gets that same control. I've said it before and I'll say it again. For me this election will be about facing another choice between Republicians who don't keep their promises and Democrats who I fear might keep theirs.
