    Default CIA Director

    More change.....or NOT....
Former Clinton Chief of Staff ( Leon Panetta) is going to run the CIA. I guess it is a suprise, he was not suspect for the position because he has no experience.....hmmm...

No experience in the intelligence world...I guess intelligence and experience are not good attributes for such high positions in politics.......

He was a California Congressman and director of the office of management and budget.....wonder how he did in that position.

Another notch in "handle of change". I agree with his lack of credentials. Strange selection indeed.

This choice was an IOU. Nobody knew what to do with Panetta, so they stuck him over at the CIA. He can count paperclips there.

The Director only knows what the Agency wants him to know. He's not a Yale man so he isn't going to know squat.

Ms., Change can also be destructive!!!!!!!! Barry did not say which type of change he was for???????

Isn't that the truth...I went and read a second article posted about the selection and found that the reasoning behind it is as much as to seperate themselves or show change from all Bush Policy....

So its no change as in more of the same with all the Clinton people, and it is scary appointment to show change or distant themselves from Bush policy with no real reason or qualification other than it is a distant change from Bush policy.

Great.....a selection with no sustance or resume for the position just to make a statment???? Is that correct?

I don't know anything about the CIA or strategic moves when it comes to that or military obviously, but logic says....how is this guy the right guy for that job??? I am confused.

The CIA's primary job is to collect foreign intelligence, analyze the information and provide the President with a detailed overview of potential threats to the US. They do this by gathering political, social, military, and economic data from a large variety of sources to create assessments on countries and groups. Their most powerful source of information is human intelligence. (This capability was virtually destroyed during the Carter administration)

The question that begs to be answered is, what is in Panetta's resume that would qualify him to lead this organization?

Does the above not describe Obama's whole campaign strategy?

hope and change. hope of what? change to what?

A step back in time I guess. In the glassy eyed Obama supporter's minds enamored by his energetic speeches, any change completely away from Bush would be a good change. Bush haters didn't make particularly smart or informed voters imo. McCain was a weak candidate in terms of "appeal". Probably would have been a decent President. Obama may be too. But imo neither is gonna or would have changed much of anything. We have the lowest rated Congress in modern history at the helm of the ship. It's gonna be a relabeled box of government crap. Same contents, same smell, a few different faces. A cabinet of recycled Clintonites many just filling the spots. Change away from Bush will be the result, not change representing much improvement of significance.

Congressional approval is at 14%. I would predict you will see single digits in less than 2 years.

Just talked to my Mother about this. He was our local Congressman growing up and my Mom used to speak to him quite often concerning special education kids in Monterey County. His secretary was and still is a very close friend of our family. He replaced her many years ago before he started moving further up the ladder.

    Small friggin' world......

He has an airport named after him.... That should qualify him to be CIA director.
