John Harris, Blagojevich's former chief of staff, testified Wednesday in the former governor's corruption trial that three days after the Nov. 4, 2008, presidential election, the ex-governor told Harris he felt confident Obama knew he wanted to swap perks.

"The president understands that the governor would be willing to make the appointment of Valerie Jarrett as long as he gets what he's asked for. . . . The governor gets the Cabinet appointment he's asked for," Harris said, explaining a recorded call.

Lots of damage control is gonna be needed on this one. Rhambo's likely to be the sacrifical lamb and several others are going to go to ground.

We can just hope this gets tied real tight to O's tail and he clipped with 'em. More likely Lake MI will get some "chum".....

Funny, I've been emailing some ILL relatives about this, here's a few notes:

Then there's one of the few politicians that I really admire, Peter Fitzgerald. He was a U.S. Senator here in Illinois, and he has money. All he did was insist on an independent federal prosecutor, and they ran his ass out. BTW, when they talk about "Obama's Senate seat", it's not his seat, it's Peter Fitzgerald's seat (really, the people's seat, but you know what I mean).

Still, for anyone to think Obama was totally unaware of Rahm's wheeling & dealing of his seat is foolish.
If Blago gets convicted, then so should Rahm since he's on the other end of the FBI tapes. Where does that put Obama then? He denied working more than a few hours for Rezko & we don't find out til after the election that Rezko recruited Obama from law school to work full time for him

The Supreme Court says that politicians can only go to jail for directly taking a bribe or extorting someone. This as we have yet another former Governor on trial in Illinois for trying to sell a Senate seat (among other things)

Apparently the Supremes can't fathom modern political graft. It's too vague to prosecute when a politician launders tax money by funneling it to a contractor who turns around and contributes to that politician's campaign.
Insist on full disclosure of campaign $, and let the voters decide. We have a guy in FL who used state $ to build a private airplane hangar for a large donor, then got himself a university job paying $150k.
WB: You'll never get full disclosure. Daley's hiring private firms to do City work. Those firms don't have to disclose jack. They'll delay it, hide it, disguise it, etc. Then, the media won't report it or will attack anyone who brings it up. Or they'll create non-issues to crowd out the disclosures. It's all already being done. Just look at Rangel, Dodd, Geithner, etc. Government's authority needs to be limited, and those limits need to be enforced.
