    Default Wanna go to Tijuana???

THis is the sort of stuff we are up against with our sweet/kind/loving/caring/honest/considerate/grateful neighbor to our south:

    http://current.com/news/92576581_62-...s-arrested.htm

Lets see how this plays out when the rats start to roll over on their connections...

    http://current.com/1nci84c

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico (AP) — It's practically a daily ritual: Accused drug traffickers and assassins, shackled and bruised from beatings, are paraded before the news media to show that Mexico is winning its drug war. Once the television lights dim, however, about three-quarters of them are let go.

Even as President Felipe Calderon's government touts its arrest record, cases built by prosecutors and police under huge pressure to make swift captures unravel from lack of evidence. Innocent people are tortured into confessing. The guilty are set free, only to be hauled in again for other crimes. Sometimes, the drug cartels decide who gets arrested.

    Default Ah.....NO

To answer your question, NO. I have zero desire to visit our wonderful neighbors to the south. The horror stories of the corrupt cops in border towns goes waaaaaay back, and I have personal experience from the 60s and early 70s.... That said, the Sea of Cortez town of San Felipe was one of my favorite places to go until the Federalies realized they could supplement their paltry income by extorting Americans..... In those days the highway, (very loose term for highway), ended at a boat launch in town. If you wanted to go further south you needed a buggy, or a boat, which made that part of Mexico a virtual "untouched by humans" paradise...... The townspeople were very friendly, and the cost of living was extremely cheap by American standards... I recall buying enough groceries for a week for $15.00, and that included a case of Mexican beer...... But then the almighty buck reared it's ugly head. There was one local cop, nice guy, spoke enough English to tell stories of the remote town and it's extreme tides, and drove a bare framed mid 60s Ford "dune buggy" with a red flashlight taped to the windshield for "official" business...... Then the Federalies started midnight extortion raids on beach campers and being there was no longer "fun"........I have some wonderful memories of the town, and even more about the people, both Mexican and fellow Americans, as we lived/played in an area that time had forgotten..... OH, did I mention the fishing!!!! Very easy to catch your dinner daily......But sadly, progress marched on and ruined another part of Mother Earth.......Ah, I get a warm feeling just thinking about waking up and walking down the beach to town for a huge breakfast for about 50 cents.......But TJ now?? That would be a NO....... Maybe deep into Mexico, but not Baja style Mexico. The problem with traveling deep into Mexico, is having to pass through "shallow" border areas where you are at the mercy of corrupt "officials"..........Sorry for the walk down memory lane, but Mexico use to be soooo much different.........Ray

I get weekly briefs. The next one I get, I'll send it to you. It's a combination of translated Mexican news papers, and other sources. Sometimes the photos are pretty gruesome.

From what I am seeing, it is becoming one of the most dangerous places on the planet.

Only in terms of cost. If we stopped spending needlessly on wars, we might be able to come up with the cash and military power

As I stated before, what if we discontinued all welfare to every single able bodied American and instead employed them to erect the wall? There are millions and millions of them and the money we save from the hundreds of thousands who will refuse to work could easily pay for all the materials.

Even your Kenyan knows it's not time to pull up stakes on Iraq and Afghanistan.

Amazing that you don't seem able to make a comment that doesn't include the word "Kenyan". Probably nothing more than a terminal case of OCD.

Hopefully we start bringing more troops home form Iraq and Afghanistan sooner than later

I don't see how we can afford to NOT do something drastic like a massive wall... Either we do that or continue to hemorrhage from a financial perspective and hemorrhage as a nation as the rats continue to pour in and erode our quality of life and our social services which are intended for CITIZENS...

Funny thing, I was talking to my aunt that is 80. She moved to SoCal as a child and was telling me about her life growing up... Picking grapes/veggies/drying grapes for raisins/picking fruit...

She said if she didn't work she didn't get to buy new clothes... At retirement she was worth a few million as she sold her real estate franchise/rentals and now lives comfortably traveling around the world...

Sometimes it makes me want to bank everything I own, move to the middle of nowhere and let my kids develop into the type of well rounded and responsible adults that my parents/aunts/uncles became as they pulled THEMSELVES up... Sigh...

So, coupled with all the names you've called me now you say I have a mental disturbance? I'm pleased to say I have not been diagnosed as such. I have close friend living in Sierra Vista who does suffer from OCD however and it's really serious, not something to laugh about in my opinion. His disturbance effects his entire family.

I too, would love to see these wars brought to a close sooner than later. I have a number of extended family serving there.

Maybe there's hope after all. You omitted the word "Kenyan" from your response.
