    Default Welcome to Oklahoma

California again fails. And the economy is just great. Except for the hundreds continuing to lose jobs.

Boeing To Cut 800 Jobs At Long Beach Facility
    LONG BEACH, Calif. (CBS) ―

Boeing announced Monday that the company is moving 550 of its jobs at the Long Beach facility to Oklahoma City, while 250 other positions will be eliminated.

Boeing has announced that they will cut 800 jobs at the Long Beach facility.

The layoffs come as the company prepares to move two of their defense programs from Long Beach to Oklahoma City.

About 550 of the 800 employees will have the option of moving to Oklahoma to keep their job. The remaining positions will be eliminated.

Boeing will move its C-130 Avionics Modernization Program in 2011 and its B-1 program in 2012.

Boeing spokesman Forrest Gossett said, "I know our leadership team took a look at the overall operating cost and made a determination."

Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry is optimistic about the transition because of the state's previous success in the aviation and aerospace industry.

I'm not surprised. CA has to one of the worst, if not the worst, place to run a business in the US.

As a manufacturing company, I couldn't imagine being located in California. It's a pain in the ass as it is just selling to California and marketing in California.

Los Angeles isn't the only city that is this bad but here's a story for ya:
I was at a trade show there. Our equipment is fairly heavy and bulky so most of our show stuff are shells and have no internals. We had 6 florescent lights at this particular trade show. That was all of our electricity requirements. We plug them all into 2 power strips which are plugged into the main outlet. It's a total of 1.2 amps. Each light draws 20-25 watts. A union electrician came over and scolded us for plugging in our own lights and proceeded to "even the load" of electricity between the 2 power strips. Then tried to charge us $150 for spending almost an hour staring at the 6 plugs and unplugging and replugging them in so that half the lights were on 1 strip and half on the other.....

Some of the associations that put on shows refuse to host one in California. Chicago is usually another city they won't go to.

Yep it's that bunch of people who come from "Long lines of proud Democrats". Kind of like the few here that say they are for one thing and then when they get behind the curtain they vote Dem down the line. Guess thier pride won't let them do the right thing.

    Liberals, X26.
"Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though" President Barack Obama.

Liberals just chose to ignore relevant information about the world they live in, and then call themselves sophisticated for having chosen to be more stupid than God made them.

I have been knownto vote for a few dems over the years. especially when thier view are more aligned with mine than the Rep candidate. Unfortunately the dems are going so far left these days that I find it hard to find one that even comes remotely close to my views.

Well I will admit the business climate sucks here and one day I will move somewhere else. However the Govanator is WAY better than who he replaced (Davis) this place is just seriously ungovernable due to the screwed up districts and that there are more "takers" voting vs. "suppliers"

BTW the trade show deleo is EVERYWHERE...I do several shows a year LA, Vegas, Orlando, Chi town, etc. and the unions run them. We are always sneaking in stuff in or paying off ppl. to keep the weight down/set up our own booth/power.

Same thing happened in the 80's when they closed General Motors South Gate and moved to OK City. Lucky my dad had 35 years in and could retire. Some of his buddies didn't and made the move. They ended up loving it there and stayed after they retired. AC in the plant.
