Note that Waco moved to the first weekend in Sept.
in years past up until the last race there. we used to bring our rv and camp outside the fence. anyone know if they will be allowing this in the furture.
I met with the City today about the event and with the new construction and layout of the park, there will have to be some changes to where things get parked. I would suppose that the are along the trees from the fence at the put-in ramp back towards the East will remain as Spectator Parking.
Other than for special events, there is no overnight camping allowed in the park. I doubt that anybody would bother you if you were in that area.
As we get closer to the race date, and before you pull in and drop anchor, check with one of the officials and we'll make sure you're in the right spot.
is there a site or place to look at the new configuration of the park? if looking at the park from road we stayed to the far left in a grass field, but backed up to the fence. we could actually sit in the rv and watch the race and listen to it on the radio. we were well away from the pits (to the far right)and did not restrict any parking or acess.
thanks for the info. just hate to make the haul and not be able to stay at the park. love waco because of the closeness to the track & the shade trees.
The new configuration of the park is not on the web... in fact, I just got a copy of it last week in a meeting with the city.
One thing I can assure you is that you won't be able to do what you posted above when we return to the park due to the new layout.
I will be going on a walk-through with park staff in the next couple of weeks when the paving is completed and will post some photos on Drag Boat Alley.
thanks for the info.don't guess we will be going to waco anymore.
You'll still be able to park your RV in the parking area, but you won't be able to park it there and watch the races for free.
Hope you'll come back.... it's a great race track...!
my bad ! i misunderstood u and u me. we pay to go in and watch the races. enjoy being that close to the track. if we needed a break or it rained we could watch from the rv. will they be pitting the races in same area as previous years?
We're doing a walk-through next Monday to see just how the park will lay out. It's going to be tighter parking inside the fences than before... but we've got 2 permanent restrooms, a great rock bulkhead and paved roads that we didn't have before.
As soon as I can, I'll post what we've got.
Bottom line... Apologize if I misread your post and hope that you'll look us up in September.
