Default General Grabber Red Letter or Dick Cepek

Any one have any exerience with the Genneral Grabber (red or black) tire? Do they hold up and last on a F350 truck? My other thought is a Dick Cepek F-CII... how do they do?

I have a 1 year old set of BFG AT tires that are already starting to show dry rott signs and I want them off my truck.

Do you think an 08 F350 with a 1.5" level kit can clear 35s?

I think the General Grabbers are only C rated. I wouldn't go anything less than an E rating.

Damn, only 1 year old BFGs? I don't understand why people swear by their crap.

To clear 35's you might need to go up a lil more. I'm thinking 4". I'm sure they would fit in the rear no problem. Even if you had to, a set of 2" blocks are cheap and easy to install.

I love the grabbers, and have had 2 sets. I would not use them on something that does some heavy towing, because of the low load rating.

I have never had Dick Cepek's

I just put 35's on a 01 2wd f350. I know it's not the same truck, but the 08 wheel wells seem bigger. I did do a little trimming, and by a little I mean 5-10 min worth. My neighbor has a 05 F250 harley Davidson 4x4 with the metric equivelant of a 34.2(or something like that) with no trimming done and no leveling kit.

Well the good news is discount gave me a full refund on the BFG's this last go around. The bad news is they would only put back on an E1 load rated tire which threw out all the oversized tires that we could find. I ended up going with the Cooper STT mud tire in the stock size and have about 400 miles on it and so far so good. It is definatly smoother than the BFG and the steering wheel seems easier to turn but that may just be that it is not as wide. The truck does not really do any better or worse in the soft sand at the lake but I have yet to air the coopers down below 40. They look great, now lets just hope the last.

Incidently the 35" grabbers were an E2 rated tire. Your right there is no way I would put a C rated tire on an F350 and a D rated was questionable. I did not know there was a a such thing as E1 and E2 until the other day.
